Ok, I have a win 94 (1969) that I want to put a rear sight on the barrel. It was never installed, had a peep sight mounted on the receiver instead. It has a place to put it but how do you mount it and what hardware do I need? Thanks in advance. I can take pics if that will help.
Being a peep sight fan I have to ask why you want to go from a peep sight to tangent sights? For me, Peep sights are far more accurate and faster. Did someone take the sight off to mount a scope?

OK, that makes sense. Love those old carbines. It has been a while since I looked at the rear sight mounting on a 94 but it should not be too difficult to replace the rear sight. With out looking at it I can only venture a guess. Not a gunsmith either so maybe some of them will chime in.
If I remember right there shouldn't be a need for specialized tools.

I'm seperated from mine at the moment by about 6000 miles but I believe it is just dovetailed into the barrel, interference fit. What does the mounting point look like, is it a shallow dovetail??
If it is just dovetailed, all you need is a brass drift (punch) and a small hammer to replace. This is where I may be assforelbow, I believe the norm is for it to be fitted from left to right; so just drift in gently, then fit the elevator section later. Should be fairly simple.
Texn..............."ya can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time"...............na not really, I'm a Heavy hammer man to trade! Mid June before I make it home & get reunitied with my guns.
Wun is right on the money! Just drift her in GENTLY. I do not think it matters in what direction, as you are supposed to be able to drift either direction for windage.

Got it installed...but it's still shooting high. Maybe I'll get around to making some adjustments eventually...but the ramp has already been moved fully forward as much as possible.
Yeah, after talking to my gunsmith who I will take to him to do the work, said the same thing almost. That piece was a filler they put in when it was manufactured and you drift it out, replace with new sight. Thanks for your inputs.
