Guns don't kill people, murderers do.

Iowa Family Killer Left Apologetic Note, Embattled Bank Exec Murdered Wife And Four Kids Before Committing Suicide - CBS News

This case, while sad, is a perfect example of the fact that wackos, with a gun or not, will kill regardless of their ability to obtain and use a firearm.

Can you imagine the press if this man had used a gun to slaughter his own family? Anti-gunners would have a field day!

In my book this is just more proof that it is the person behind the trigger that kills - not the firearm itself. We may as well ban automobiles and baseball bats, since they surely drove this husband and father to kill his own family!?

Sick minds don't need guns to harm people. What a horrific, and tragic incident.

When Chris Benoit, the professional wrestler went nuts and killed his family he did so with out any firearms. While sad, it does say that if someone really wants to kill they will do it regardless.

The sad point is that someone bent on murder and mayhem will use the most convienient or accessible weapon at hand. Whether it be a gun, shovel, knife, hammer etc, or their bare hands it matters not to them all that matters to them is completing their intent.

One of the most powerful pieces of information on this is enclosed in the following chart.

One can easily see that--since the government has collected data on the topic--homicide rates, suicide rates and homicide by handgun rates basically stay the same while handguns in circulation more than double.

I believe it's clear evidence that we will ALWAYS have a certain segment of the public killing themselves or others; it doesn't matter if we have more or less guns, they'll still get the job done with any means they can muster. There appears to be no coorelation between handguns and homicides or handgun homicides.

Cite is from Gunfacts, but includes FBI data.

Oh, and besides that, guns don't kill people...bullets usually do....
