Hgh Standard 1911 .45

Hey guys new here found the site trying to search on diff. questions that I had. I v owned a .22 pistol forever but thats about it and really never have taken care of it just kinda use it. But really want to do things right on this one. So here goes 1) I saw that a few guys like the blazers brass for range shooting but what about for actual defense what is the bets round grain/type? 2) I v hunted all my life and have just cleaned my guns after the season after sighting in, hunting so i v never really counted the rounds or anything like that. What is the appropriate range of rounds to where i should have my gun cleaned.
I have t shot my new pistol yet and of course its eating me up, think i might go right now. Thanks
