I just got a TC Contender 30/30 14 inch barrell. Anyone have a suggestion for a whitetail load? At one time bullets by Hornady and Sierra were made for single shot pistols. They were around 130 grains. Any experience with these?
I think the Hornady 130 gr SSPs have been discontinued for some time. I thought I was ordering some from Grafs a while back, but they shipped the regular 130 gr SPs, instead. Phone follow-up indicated that the SSPs were no longer available.
I just bought 100 of the SSP's from a pretty popular gun shop on Gun Broker. I'm sure (please, please, please) they know the difference between the SP and the SSP. We'll see what shows up.
The regular Hornady 130 gr .308 Spire Points (SPs) are part number 3020. The old 130 gr. .308 Single Shot Pistol bullets (SSPs) are part number 3021. The only ways to tell the difference are to read the box or section a bullet.
