I'm looking for anyone that has seen, held are maybe even shot the Para PDA's PXT 1911 micro compacts either the 45 are 9mm. I'm looking to purchase a carry gun and was looking at these as a possible option. They seem a little pricey and would like input before $$$.
I purchased the 9mm Para PDA from Silver bullet in Grand Rapids. I loved the look and feel in my hand, and love 1911s. I wanted for personal carry (CCW)
I was very disappointed the 1st range session when I couldn't even get a full clip through it before failing to feed and jamming. A trip to Para and 2 weeks later, I get it back and same thing. 1 shot and it wouldn't feed.
The Silver bullet took it back and I purchased a Kahr MK9 elite. That worked great and 300 rounds with no failure. By the way, the Silver Bullet has the best customer service I have found. I highly recommend them, even if you have to drive a few hours. Its worth it.
The Para PDA is a great looking and feeling gun, but feed back from others say "They haven't perfected the 3" 1911 yet. Especially in lower caliber than 45 ACP."
I dont know if that is a fact, But I was sure unhappy. But I still want one, just want it to work. But I'm literally "Gun Shy" about trying again. I'm not made of money.
Para is a great gun. Before you buy one though I would shoot it then a Colt, Upper end Springfield and upper end S&W. A gun of that nature is a life long toy. You want to be assured that you will be able to have it worked on and have parts available 20 years from now. I would feel more comfortable thinking Colt, Springfield and S&W parts will be available in 2030. I'm not sure about Para.
