Russians had some great military technologies, their Hind Chopper come to mind as well as their MIG jets.

They also had some good intelligence agencies and special forces, like the KGB.

I would say they could have been a threat, but we bled them dry of money in Afghanistan. However, they should be our allies, because the Russian language is very beautiful and I have gotten to know a few very pretty Russian women.

None of what they are saying is crap. It is all true. The Soviets and Chinese were a scary thing to have to think about.

Hopefully you all know that it's a spoof on a video game. If it wasn't for the Russians we wouldn't have vodka. lol I read once that the Russian army had a very high number of Alcoholics because of their love of vodka. The article also said that only the senior soldiers could read a map or use a compass. AWOL and desertion was very common.

I met Russian soldiers at a checkpoint on the East German border. Heck, they looked just like me. We traded cigarettes, booze, Playboy magazines for their uniforms and then sell them to our guys.

Heck, my wife was an exchange student in Eastern Europe for a while. They're a lot like us, although their sense of humour tends to be staggeringly droll, popularly. Comes from all the crap they've gone through as a people.

I really think now is an opportune time to really make friends again...gang up on China.

Not to mention that nobody was better at brute-forcing things into orbit than the Russians. Most of our space work with them nowadays tends to run pretty smoothly. We're the two nations that have done the most work towards real space exploration. We could certainly help each other along if we don't let politics get in the way.

Oh yes...Russian humour...

Lets not forget what happened when Napoleon tried to invade Russia. It was a land he could not conquer.

I thought that was somewhat amusing. It just shows that they get bored the same as anyone else and used a sense of humor to pass the time.

As to vodka, the polish make the best vodka I have had.

The only thing missing in their video game spoof was a "Boss" mob at the end. I'm thinking Ronald Reagan with the text showing: GAME OVER....YOU LOSE!

I'm sorry... it's just... difficult for me to accept that there is anything better than Stolichnaya for now. Even the Bison Grass stuff.

But 26 million died defending their nation even when there was 1 gun for every 3 soldiers and 1 bullet for every 5 guns.

Thats what i call patriotism.

But an awful lot of them didn't have much of an option, retreat and suffer Stalin's consequences (ie.get shot) or hold, fight and move forward and possibly survive. Similar tactics to British ones during the Great war when the Officers went over the top first & led the troops and the Sar'nt major was last man out making sure that there were no live soldiers who didn't wish to go forward left behind!
