I saw that there's a gun show in Puyallup being hosted by Western Arms Collecters. Has anyone been to any of their previous shows? I'd like to know if it is a good show to visit. Their site says that you have to be a member to buy or sell guns at the show, so I'll just be lookin' if I go.
I've been when they host it at the monroe state fairgrounds every month. Its pretty small and yes you do have to join to buy anything, I think its like 30 dollars for a 2 month membership or something like that. You also have to pay for your bg check. Ive only purchased ammo there before which was pretty cheap. The guns are reasonably priced but nothing great ( at least i think) also theres about a 7 dollar entry fee i believe
The gun show is near the front gate in Puyallup. The Monroe show is much easier to find at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds.
Either way, the shows are kinda small and the deals really aren't there for the most part. You might come across something by luck, but you're actually better off watching gunbroker for deals. Also, the Entry fee of $5 is applied to your membership if you purchase it that day (which is $35 for a YEAR), so you only pay an additional $30 and they do an NCIS check there as part of the fee. Being a member allows you to go into either show for free and some other affiliate gun shows around the state (and neighboring states) for free. It also gets you Gun News, which is an outstanding monthly publication.
I personally let my membership expire last December mainly due to two reasons:
1) They don't allow loaded firearms of any kind in the show, even legally-carried sidearms in a holster. If they find you concealing or you open carry (which is legal in WA), they might just warn you, but they could revoke your membership.
2) I'm a student at the UW and I went and fought for my right to carry on campus to protect myself an my fellow students (and citizens for that matter) at the House Committee for Higher Education in Olympia and the NRA, the Hunter's Association and the CCRKBA groups all had representatives come and speak (I also testified, twice in front of state senators) but WAC was nowhere to be found. This disappointed me so much that I decided that I would save my money and work towards the installment Life Membership to the NRA. Admittedly, I had thought they were kind of becoming fat on memberships and not doing anything proactive, but seeing them stand up for my human rights as a citizen and as a student changed my mind.
