Is there any way to change the actual grip of a ruger blackhawk. I dont mean the panels I mean the lower portion of the frame itself. There are 4 screws that look like they take the lower portion of the frame off but figured I would ask.

Yes, ther are all sorts of grip frames that can be intwerchanged on Blackhawks and Super Blackhawks. Different shapes, sizes and materials. You can install a "birds head" style, Bisley style or others. Also bl;ued, brass or stainless.

Hmm. I havent had the grip off of my Super BH for ages. Not since I changed the grip on it. I removed the factory wood grips and installed a nice molded finger groove Hogue and never looked back. I just looked at my pistol, it has 5 screws that would require removal. I have never heard of changing that for any reason.

Is it the shape or something that you want to change ?

I have seen Birds head lower frames for sale that fit the Rugers...Is that what you mean ???

yeah either a birds head or more Double action feeling grip frame. Just saw that they have birds head frames on midway for $98.

I added this brass frame to my 357 nmbh.

I just picked up a brass sbh frame in the rough. This one requires all the holes to be drilled. It well go on this bad boy.
