AR range report

I took the AR and my wife to the range on sunday. As I predicted, she loved shooting the AR ! She burned some rounds through the SKS, the JW15, 10/22 and Mossberg 500 as well ( even 3" mag 00buckshot,I make her take it hiking when I am not with her during bear months )

Anyhow, back to the AR. I first fed it some PMC 55fmj at 25 yards to sight it in. Soon as I dialed it in at that range I went for a couple groups and got -1/2" much to my surprise and satisfaction. I then moved it to 50 yards and fed it some Previ Partisan 62fmj and it didnt group so well. I think a large part of the blame is in the Millett red dot on a orange and white target. I sighted only the red dot as I dont have a rear iron sight on it yet( and discovered that I need a tool to adjust the front sight ), the red dot is too long to allow a rear sight to be mounted. I quickly decided that I will get a holo sight so that I can utilizea rear iron.
Once I have the sighting system squared away I will try the PP 62fmj again and see how that goes.

The rifle itself functioned flawlessly through 70 rounds so I am pleased about that. Now i am hot after a rear sight, the holo sight may be a ways away though.

If you want a good reflex sight that you can use at long range, look at the Trijicon Reflex with the triangle reticle. Tip of the triangle for 200 yds, use the whole triangle for close range. I love using mine at 200 yds. SWFA/Riflescopes.com has a "used" list that sells some display models for like $270.
