| Senior Member | My Truck Needs Tires I need new tires for my SUV and truck. I am mostly a highway/city driver. I was looking at different brands and saw some that got really great reviews that I have no familiarity with. I never heard of Nankang or Yokohama, but people posted good reviews - better than Goodyear or Kelly. From what I can see, Nankang is Taiwanese and Yokohama is made in America. Do you all have any experience with either brand? Would you suggest something else? How about online tire dealers? I look forward to your input. |

| HMFIC ![]() | Yokohama is some awesome performance tires. I personally like Goodyear. If Michelin Tires wasn't anti-gun owner ship I would buy their tires. They are more expensive, but they are quality in my opinion.

| Banned | I run Goodyear Wranglers on my Pick ups and I run 41 psi and rotate every 7000 and I usually get about 60 to 65k to a set. I live in the mountains and on a back road. I use them on logging roads, paved roads and long trips to Ga and Ark. They don't scream driving down the road, gave me a 1 mpg better performance. Great in Mud and Snow lousy on wet grass. Bout $110 each. |

| Senior Member | I like BFG All-Terrain. Put them on my big bronco and they have lasted quite a while. Good traction, and add a bit to handling because of the sharp edges. ![]()

| Senior Member ![]() | I have a wholesale tire account, but honestly I go to Costco and I suggest that to all my family and friends as well. Can't beat it, free mounting and balancing, I think disposal is free and a year of rotation, re-balance and maybe repair as well.. And they sell great tires. You can go to their web site, enter your vehicle and it will show you all of the choices.. Last edited by Mad Hatter; 04-08-2008 at 05:30 PM. |

| Senior Member | Guys, I appreciate the replies. I have Wranglers on my SUV now. I have gotten 60+ K miles out of them. Time to retire them. I don't need an aggressive tire. I don't do off-road anymore. Yokohamas got great reviews. I am thinking those were my best bet. |

| Senior Member | Dookie, BFG A/T's aren't that aggressive. The picture is a bit harsh, but they are awesome road tires...good on dry, wet, snow, etc... I see them on many 'a SUV's around here, and probably 95% of them never see anything but asphalt and concrete.

| Senior Member | Don't by Yokohamas. Why invest in Japan? I mean if you have to buy foreign? In truth, They're all probably made outside the flippin' USA anymore right? But seriously, get yourself some decent reasonably priced Goodyear tires. My opinion, now-a-days if you get 60K+ out of a tire, that's good. Especially if you live in a severe climate changing areas like Colorado,Illinois,Michigan,Ohio,Indiana etc.etc.etc. Again, in my book, 60K+ from any tire in those climates is good.

| Senior Member | Check out Cooper tires. They make a high quality product at a good price. There are a number of good quality tires for purchase on the market. BF Goodrich though, I do not consider one of them. 20 years as a professional mechanic has shown me too many instances of failures/poor quality. Something many may find hard to believe is that Firestone/Bridgestone make great tires also. I say this as a FORD truck fan. The Ford/Firestone recall fiasco was in my opinion Fords' fault. Firestone manufactured the tires, the y test them and know what their product can withstand. Ford, contrary to Firestones' recommendation, instructed Ford vehicle owners to under-inflate the tires on the Explorers et al. Common sense dictates that the tire manufacturer is the authority. Ford believed it was the authority . Just thought I would put that out there |

| Senior Member | +1 one on Coopers Tires. Another good brand I didn't think of. That's using the ole' noodle there AKHunter. lol And let's not forget UNI- ROY and AL - Uniroyal. lol Those are most definately bottom end though. Personally, I'd buy them before a Japanese brand. But that's me.

| Senior Member | I never did see/hear that Michellin was anti-gun, but I will take Chris's word for it until I dig into it. If that is true, isnt BFG owned by Michellin? I always thought so. Right now my car has Michellin Pilot sports in size 225, and they handle great, they are what my car came with from the factory. The car has about 30K on the tires, i expect them to last to 45K or so. Not bad considering they were not driven easy. They didn't do great in the snow, but weren't designed to either. I had the BFGoodrich AT's on my jeep before I sold it, and like em a lot. Had good road manners and were great in snow/ice/mud. I would not be afraid to get those again. |

| Senior Member | Yokohama's are a known good street performance tires. I don't know of many people that run them on SUV's though. I have a budy that delivers tires for them. He normally gets them for a damn good price. Nankang is a generic tire for one of the other big tire companies but I can't think who. I run Wrangler's on my Jeep Cherokee, and they work great for street and a little off roading. But those will be changing once the lift is done hopefully this summer. |
