Idea for placement of firearm in my car....

Any ideas how I could place my gun here.....(obviously circled in red). This is not my car...mine is a bit different....the seat conceals this area better....

I was thinking that it would work if I could attach a holster there somehow. (Would be really cool if it were removable.) I like the idea because it would be super easy to grab in a hurry and it is very concealed.

Any ideas? Has this been done before?

Selftapping screws, or if you can remove it easily 1/4 20 nuts and bolts in a holster

Well, you certainly do not want it visible. Is there enough room between the console and the seat where you could wedge it in while wearing a soft holster? This would eliminate any damage to the vehicle, not to mention, be less visible.

My opinion, somewhere near the seatbelt release button if at all possible. That way, as you go to unbuckle, it's right there. In watching Personal defense T.V., they did an episode about getting out of your car with gun in hand. Removing the seatbelt with your left hand, grabbing your gun with your right hand. Plus, if in a car jacking situation, your simply going to unbuckle yourself.

If room, on the drivers side of the seat, center console side, (preferably) or on the passenger side of the center console somewhere.

Holster with hook velcro on the exterior (you can get the sticky sided wide tape and attach it to the side of a nylon or uncle mikes type open top or thumb break holster or sew on. Also, UM used to make ballistic nylon with thumb break holster that might fill the bill--you may still need to attach velcro). Will stay in place. Might need piece of fabric to drape over to conceal.

I have an Uncle Mike's IWB holster, a cheapo nylon thing with no thumb break, for a full-size 1911. I drive a Jeep Liberty, and the holster w/gun will wedge nicely between the edge of my drivers seat and the console, as mentioned above. Works quite well, quick and easy to access, quick and easy to remove. It's legal to carry that way in Colorado without a CCW permit, but I have one anyway. I like to carry a pistol there as well as on my hip, the one by the console isn't obstructed by clothing or seat belt.

make sure whatever you do that you're following state laws concerning traveling with a gun in the car. I know in some states you can carry loaded, but it has to be visible unless you've got your Concealed Permit.

Velcro a fanny pack to it. Or a holster that has a flap on it to conceal the gun. With Velcro it would be easy to remove. OOps! Just noticed that Txplt brought up Velcro. lol Goes to show you that Texans think alike.

I just place the .38 on the passenger seat and throw a jacket or shirt over it. It is concealed and easy to access. If I have my wife in the car with me, I just place it between my legs for short trips. For road trips it is on the back seat with a jacket/shirt over it.

If you don't mind cutting your center console you can easily make a hinged door that can keep the gun on the opposite side in a holster, plus it will give you the "batman" feel of having a hidden compartment in your car.

Check your state law! I have a ccw. I can carry in my car, on my person, but it is illegal to have a loaded weapon with in reach in the car. A friend got in serious trouble with this, spent over 5k in lawyer fees to keep a felony off his record.

So for those that have a dedicated "truck gun" and also conceal carry something more manageable, where do you store the truck gun while you aren't in the vehicle? I don't really like the idea of just setting in the center console since it doesn't lock, but i guess thats no different that having a shotgun under the rear seat.

Glove box which locks.... Alternatively, you can buy one of those fast access safes for less than a bill and secure it to the vehicle.

If something happens quickly, I dont want to get caught with my gun in the locked glovebox. I want it ready to go. I may just velcro it somehow. that sounds like it may work.

Yes, the velcro holster is a great idea for when you're in the car. I was responding on the post about storing the pistol (by ander) when you're gone if you're worried about theft. (of course, if they can't see it there will be less of an incentive to steal it to begin with). Sorry for any confusion.

Cheers.

Yeah I liked the velcro idea of while your in the car but was curious about when your not. I have found a bunch of in car safes which seem like they would fill the bill. Just not sure if I have clearance under my seat to hide it. I thought about just getting another piece of velcro and putting it in the center console and just transfer holster and all but my console doesn't lock. First vehicle that i have that didn't have a lock on the console, but all the other cars were converts. so I guess that makes a difference.
