What do I always say about this? You wanna combat the source of the problem, start targeting employers.
And why should they discriminate between employers who don't mistreat their workers and those who exploit them? Target them all.
This mayor may have some problems getting reelected if those comments are anything to go by.
It's a lame excuse that certain industries "have to" hire illegals. No, you just don't want to pay a legal minimum wage and taxes. There's a recession coming up, I'll bet lots of citizens would like work.
Target all the employers hireing illegals and fine them the maximum for each illegal worker. Teach the employers that the law is to be obeyed by everyone and enforce it that way,

Yeah...how dare they go after 'established, responsible employers' who are breaking the law? Believe me; he's backing the employers with the big bucks when he says that, not the workers they use.
Villarraigosa is an embarrassment. He had visions of becoming governor, then president. But he's worse than Clinton about keeping his pecker in his pants, and mayor of L.A. is as far as he's probably going.
Maybe folks will wake upand smell the coffee. That's just the kind of crap from pols that makes my butt wanta dip snuff!! They oughta roust that idiot outa office without letting him finish his term. Problem is, he may have already saturated the area withso many "undocumenteds" that he CAN'T be voted out.
The Mayor is a public official sworn to uiphold the laws of the United States. Mayor Villaraigosa's admission that he knew some employers were using undocumented [illegal] workers in violation of United States law is an offense that should lead to his prosecution or at least remove him for office.

Think about this question and you will know why we need to clean house on illegals and the people who employ/protect/house them on our soil.

Last year was when it came to a head. His wife is divorcing him, and his girl friend of the moment, a Spanish-language TV reporter, was fired for doing stories about him without revealing she had a personal stake in them (ie., she was sharing his bed).
