My mom forwarded me these images that were sent to her. They are, as you can see, pictures very few ever get to see let alone take pictures of. In this case, Hurricane Katrina, somewhere in Mississippi. They are literally of mother nature at her very worst. And, if you'll check out the storm surge in the last image, I can totally understand why the levees did not hold up. I don't think much would have to be honest...

Those pics are amazing but I wonder if some of them are photoshopped. Some of the trees don't look to be bending near enough for the category hurricane katrina was.
Imagine if a hurricane like that were to hit dead center in the Chesapeake Bay area.....it could happen ya know. Far more at stake there than in New Orleans.

Tex, you know, I'm not sure. Anything is possible. Although I'd say this, why photoshop this kind/subject matter of a picture for one? For two, remember, it's a hurricane and near the eye. In one spot the wind can be blowing 250 MPH and in another spot if could be calm as ever.
Out of curiosity, which photo are you speaking of? I'd like to take a good look?

Well I do believe the very last picture is the storm surge that hit somewhere in Mississippi. You can see that the barometric pressure was so high, and the waves were so strong, it about cleared out all water at the shore. Almost got a little moses parting the sea going on there? lol
I mean you can see the bottom of the ocean, granted near shore, but about 50 ft. out. It was one very potent storm surge.

I'm talking about the 6th picture mainly GM. You make a good point about the eye of the storm, but I still don't see any debris or anything that you would expect to see scattered about. I don't know why anyone would want to photoshop a subject like that. Perhaps to make it more dramatic? The pictures are awesome nonetheless. You said they were sent in the email. I'm always weary of emailed/chain letter type things.

You mean the one that's a pretty shade of let's say Teal or some form of green? Since it is the 6th picture, I'd have to say isn't that the shade of when everything is all calm? If I remember right, and I haven't been in a najor storm, thanks GOD, but when it's gotten green like that, everything is very quiet and calm. So if that's the case, maybe that's why?
But again Tex, I don't think anyone would doctor this type of image. I just don't see any purpose in it ya' know. But that isn't saying anyone wouldn't. lol

Sure, go ahead. I didn't even think about using them for that. In fact, now that I think about it, I had one at one time of an image of a huge arse hurricane from space and had it as my desktop background for a while. Wonder where that is? Maybe I can post it here also for anyone, you maybe, that would like to use it for that. I'll try and find it...

Thanks, GM. The photos are awesome, Mother Nature can be a real beast! She's still washing us down here in Oklahoma, along with our neighbors. My rain guage showed six inches in three days. We're so wet here on the hill it's like walking on a wet sponge. At least we don't have to worry about being under water.
