I'll let you know Monday, there was a coulple of boxes laying around the club house at the range last weekend. If there still there I'll grab them for ya. I'll be there Sat. or Sun. or both, who knows. I think they charge $2 a box if they pick them up and rebox them. Money goes to the youth program.

Not cheap that i know of. I have a 223 wssm that dad one and we haven't even put 2 boxes thru it yet, ammo is expensive. I plan on starting to reload this summer though, hopefully then it will be better. I don't know of any guns in these calibers besides winchesters (other than AR 243 wssms). I know the msrp of my m70 featherweight is around 900.

Thanks Rdale. Appreciate the effort. PM me with address and how much $ to send.

In regard to the ?'s on whether they took off... not really. The WSSM are essentially a wildcat cartridge. I got the .243WSSM because I've shot the barrel out of my 6mm PPC to the point it's no longer good enough for competition. The WSSM in 243 shoots as well as my 6mm ever did.

Thanks for any brass. Muchly.

I'm thinking of a wildcat for target shooting -- 6.5mm-.243WSSM. What do you think? Seems to be an approximate scale up of the 6BR to 6.5.

Sorry Glenn they were gone. I guess the guy who left them came back and picked them up, he just forgot them.

IMHO the .243WSSM is definately a viable round for targets, although you WILL want to reload unless you're already loaded Mine (Win Mod 70) really likes the 107 grain Sierra Matchking BTHP. And it performs very well out to 600 yards. My only caution would be that it -is- faster than the standard .243 (about 300fps, depending on load) and I don't expect the barrel life to last more than about 2500 rounds without some degradation of accuracy. Same thing happened to my 6mm PPC though.... and everything wears out -- including my car and my body.

Personally, I really like it. And everything is relative... My 300WinMag doesn't reload an as "cheaply" as the .243WSSM but the WSSM costs more than the .243Win, more than the .223, etc. etc. etc.

In the right rifle, with tuned reloads, the .243WSSM really SHOOTS. It's every bit as accurate as my 6mm ever was. It took me some experimenting to find the right load and harmonics that the barrel preferred -- but it was definately worth the effort.
My .02 worth.

I was going to do it slightly differently as a wildcat on the .243 WSSM case, and neck it up to .264 or 6.5mm. I already have a .264 WM which is hard on the barrel, but I like the caliber. From what I can see the .243 WSSM has a case volume of 53 (compared to my 264 at 82). So my thoughts would be that it would provide a short non-belted case with a much more modest powder capacity, and be easier on barrels. Without the belt and a shorter case, it theoretically should be more accurate.

Your post concerns me about finding brass though. I do reload, so it would be a matter of finding it and stocking up. I see Winchester still list it for $30 a bag (50?)
