Man, Oh Man!

Does anybody know a source for Berdan primers in this country? Even the Old Western Scrounger doesn't seem to have them any more.

Unfortunately the numbers don't tell me what size they are. I don't know what #40's and #80's fit.

Yeah, thanks for trying. Apparently PMC used to import them here, but don't any more. I am at wits end here . There has to be SOMEBODY who sells Berdan primers in the world.

I seen a couple of Australian companies. But I bet they won't ship here. I emailed them.

If it's shipped as per IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, it can be shipped internationally as a Class 1.4S Explosive, "UN0044 Primers, cap type" on either passenger or cargo aircraft if the package is under 25 kilograms or 55.1 pounds.

I used to ship dangerous goods on a daily basis and was qualified to do so (expires after 2 years). I've even shipped "explosives" through UPS and FedEx... admittedly, they were flares for a flare gun, but they are considered explosives.

You might be surprised what's legal to be shipped through mail systems.

I seem to remember #81 fitting my 8mm mauser before I went over to cut down boxer 30-06 cases.

Wonder if they would fit a 7.62X54R?

I'm not sure but would say probably yes, I think they also fit the .303 but I don't have much experience of the 7.62x54r. They are just a little larger diameter than standard large rifle boxer primers.

Oh well, the only Berdan primed cases I have for 7.62X54R are steel anyways. I do have a lot of boxer primed brass cases for that round.

That was fine, but I was just conjecturing on the 7.63X54R. I do have boxer empties for that caliber. It is the 7.62 Nagant I have a bunch of brass Berdan primed empties. The funny thing is, I caliper the cup out to 4.94mm. The closest sized Berdan primer size I see is 5mm. I wonder if that is the correct size I need?

Didn't mind sharing, but they never answered my inquiry, so I guess they won't import them here.
