Photo @1: Lt. Ted W. Lawson (left) and the crew of the famous B-25 "Ruptured Duck". Lt. Lawson wrote a book about this Japan Raid of 1942, after he left the USAAF, which was made into the 1944 movie "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo", with Spencer Tracy (as Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle), and Van Johnson (as Lt. Ted Lawson.
FYI theirs also a book 30 seconds over tokyo. I read some of it years ago back in high school that book I read out of was crusty so who knows how old it was then.
I've read a book by Sgt. Jake Deshazer, I believe that's the way it was spelled. He was the bombardier in the last plane on the deck. Was captured by the Japs after their B25 ran out of fuel over Jap occupied China. Spent until '45 in POW camps.

Pictures No. 2 and 3 of the first set are of Jimmy Doolittle's B-25 taking off. He went first because he was not only a good combat commander, he was the most experienced pilot in the group. He knew if his boys saw him get his bomber off the Hornet, they'd be more confident they could do it too.
