Looking gooood. Still think that you should use polyurethane, but more for water resistance than looks.

I used the MinWax Red Mahogany and went over it today a few times with 0000 steel wool to smooth it out, tommorow after I get home I'll Shellac it and should have pics for you guys soon after.

Geo, I usually dont get it out in humid conditions anyway, besides shellac worked for them all these years.

By the way guys the finished pics will have the scope mount rubber banded on, so it should look like a nice sniper rifle.

Heres the pics boys,

dont say nothin about the first pic, i couldnt find my burlap out in the garage and it was the next best thing.

The 9th and 10th pics are the reticle, 9 is kinda bad, buts its there.

The sixth pic is me behind my Mosin(....kidding), sorry if it sucks, i was trying to get the scope on level when my bro took it.

Heres what it cost to get the rifle looking like this:
1x Mosin Nagant M1891/30 $89.95
1x Bent Bolt $49.95
1x PE Scope Mount $129.99
1x Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 BDC reticle $124.95 (eBay)
1 Pint: Bulls Eye Clear Shellac $5.97
1 Pint: Minwax Mahogany Red Stain $4.97
1 pkg steel wool (16 pads) $9.97
1 pkg 440 grit sand paper $6.97
Total: $422.72

But believe me, its worth it

Looks good. Man, that scope is really clear.

Oh, and you forgot to add in the price of that bent-bolt.... unless it came with the 91/30 you bought, then I'm just jealous.

I'm thinking the rubber bands have solved the mount stabilizing problems.

Nice job MS. Very cool.

I still have to get the reciever drilled and tapped for the PE mount but the rubber band is a good temporary fix for photos.

Hey guys, if you'd ask me, I'd go for the Dawn Power Dissolver. I love it's cleaning power.
