I'm glad the little girl didn't get hurt, but how are the militay going to explain this away? I'd be more than pi$$ed if it was my house, and my pet!!!

Would a meteor fragment that struck one of their artillary shells in flight....possibly fly? Or maybe....another weather balloon story? Seriously, I think I see about 1,000 lawyers beating a path to the victims front door.
Cat?? No biggie. But if it had been my dog, look the F out! I realize that was a rare bread of cat though. One of a kind and not easy to replace. Ought to be worth 1/2 a mil.
They said they were trying a new way to dispose of unwanted artillery shells. I think they should go back to the old way, it was probably safer!
We had a similar type incident a few years back with a cow being killed. one of our navy ships overshot a range buy about 6-8 miles and the shell landed in a farmer's field. Story goes that after a ship refit, they forgot to input the computer data to compensate for a new gun barrel..OOPs! Murphy's law.
