what kinda rifle m44? or 91x30? If your wanting to match target shoots then maybe bedding will help but in my opinon bedding for the average shooter or hunter is a waste of time and money , but then that is my opinon and others will disagree.. Most of the time it isnt the rifle its the shooter!! Practise , Practise ,Practise

It is a 91/30. I would like to hunt with it. So sounds like bedding is a waste of time for a hunter/ shooter. As soon as the weather here decides what it want to do i will get out and practice up.

And practice some more. Everybody has their ideas on how to crank the last little bit of accuracy from their Mosin. Some seem reasonable. Some not. I would shoot it a lot, and if you're still not satisfied, start looking for reasons.

Its all Steve and Marions fault if you dont shoot well now. Sounds like a good reason to me.

oh btw....the dovetail underneath the sight base on a 91/30....it sometimes isnt exactly straight....on mine, from above, if i line-up the front of scope with center of barrel, rear of scope looks to be about 7mm offset, so i'll need to boresight my "factory preset" scope.

Yep or get a base/ring combo with lateral adjustment so you don't use up all of your windage adjustment on your scope.

I have never, EVER seen a mosin dovetail that was Not Straight since it was machined to keep the Rear sight straight when moving the elevation...
A crooked sight base would have been rejected at the arsenal...

My 91/30 had a fairly light trigger pull, but my M44's is stiffer than a woodpeckers lip!

fixed the alignment issue when i shimmed the rear scope ring....the pressure the rear of scope was putting on receiver was causing it to lean to the left....now I'M awesome

YES....i shot it, got in trouble, but i shot it....i was laying prone on a river overlook aiming at a tree near a field on other side of river....had to use distance chart to adjust scope down to where i could at least see dirt flying when i hit somewhat near to tree(30ft is near at that range)....and 98rounds later, i have the state patrol officer testing me for public intoxication
