Issue a handgun, rifle and shotgun to every citizen, things will work out!

Never trust an elected official....He didn't get there by being forthright. The higher up he goes, the more deals he makes.

The potiental abuse of this bill outweighs any benefit it might remotely have. The one thing Dems and Reps have in common is their lust for power and they will work together to obtain it.

I suppose it's useless to point out that there's nothing to 'enforce' in this bill? It doesn't take any cops or prisons to set up a couple of study groups, Mitch.

They may well pass something despicable and try to enforce it farther down the line after they have the results, of course, but this particular bill doesn't outlaw a single thing.

Then why do we bother to have elections? I think there's a difference between a healthy skepticism toward our elected officials, and a defeatist attitude that the mere act of running for office proves they're all scum. The former keeps a democracy alive; the latter will destroy one, if enough people start believing it.
