1944 m44 laminated stock.

A local gun store has a 1944 m44 with laminated stock. The upper part of the stock that covers the top of the barrel is not laminated. Is that common? The rest of the rifle is in pristine shape and the store wants $140.00. Do you guys think it is worth it since I will have to pay tax and the $25.00 background check fee.

The upper is going to not be laminated on all the laminated stock rifles I have seen.

I have found them for around a hundred bucks on places like gun broker and other suppliers. Unless you have an 03 ffl you would have to have it sent to an ffl holder, Cabelas, Big 5 places like that will receive your rifle for a fee, usually $25-$50. So you would be out $125-$150. That's without the shipping which I have seen staying around $25 although some places ship it for free.

I would probably snatch it up but thats me.

Which would be great if I did not have to pay for shipping, transfer fee, and back ground check.

I wouldn't wait to buy it. I'm guessing your in Cali? Here in Idaho it is hard to come by the laminated stocks right now, or any Mosin for that matter, everyone wants 'em.

Oh and sorry about having to pay for a background check. We don't have those here, you walk in buy the rifle and walk out with it in only a few minutes.

Just got my laminated from J&G for 79.95 + shipping. I have a C&R license, so I only paid for shipping. No background check or transfer fee, and UPS just delivered it to ME!

Mine was a 91/30, non-laminated, but I paid the same price that the laminated M44's are now going for. I bought mine from J&G. The rifle was $79, the shipping was $18, and the transfer fee was $35. Total: $132. You want to buy mine...? I traded it for a laminated M44. I think I just like the longer versions better.

Only if they are 1944 Tula arsenal, as Izhevsk cranked out a bunch, so that is typically what you see for 1944.

1943's were pilot builds, and pretty rare.

FYI (to all) I see where J&G has 1944 Tula's again for $149.95.
