If it's NIB and the caliber you're wanting, it sounds like an excellent deal. They are certainly known as a quality, accurate rifle, being a clone of the Weatherby Vanguard.

Condition

Please check the bore for rust or other visible problems.
Please check the trigger pull.
Please remove from stock and check the exterior for any rust or damage.

If it looks good through and through then I would go for it.

Actually the H1500 is not a clone, the weatherby vanguard is actually the howa 1500 with the weatherby name on it... Howa makes the Vanguard series

not by a lot, they are almost identical in every way, but all that matters is that the gun shoots I don't personally care if the maker is Juicy Fruit and the name on the gun is Bubble Yum

well guys I didnt pick up the rifle, because a steyr subcompact 9mm came into view at a steal of 290. Good news is that the rifle is still for sale, and is still on my radar.

Welcome to the 300 club, meatloaf, just be careful that you dont go through the initiation process. Just remember....Tight to the sholder, cheek tight to the stock, and dont sneak up on the scope! The 300 is an unforgiving creature.
