Spotlighting

Just got back from a night out with a couple mates spotlighting.I took my 22/250 out for a shot. Its still working tops.

First headless bunny

A mate with a 22magnum shot bunny.Very nice little martini cadet.

Almost headless. This cheeky bugger stuck its head out from behind a rock so i took off what i could see.

My other mate with one that has an oil pressure problem.

Another for the 22magnum

We shot 9 rabbits in all.Bit of a quiet night with only 2 foxes seen and they took of quick smart when they saw the light.

Night hunting

irish murphy: Sir; that would be fun. Here in the states particularly, NC
Night hunting; Night Light hunting will get you in jail and confiscation of your weapon, truck, and any paraphernalia deemed a part of the event.

Exception, raccoon, and opossum as I know it.

Thanks for such a posting.

We dont even consider it hunting over here, its just shooting.I guess its a form of hunting. If we didnt spotlight the feral population would explode. Here it is again. The difference between aussie hunting and american. We shoot ferals, you shoot natives.Mostly.

Camel's unusual enough for ya? Australia has the worlds largest population of wild camels.

Good pics Murph, thanks for sharing mate.

yea gotta watch out for those Drop bears. Nasty buggers they are.

I saw one jump from a tree and latch on to a guy's leg once, it took 4 blokes to get it off. Left a nasty bite.

Have heard of a few people being killed by them, tourists mainly, the poor buggers never knew what hit them.

Took the spotlight and 243 out the other night, saw SFA, got two foxes. Anyone else find the full moon is terrible for spotlighting? Nothing was out.

Was the night before a full moon when i was out.I dont know if its that bad.We didnt see much in the way of foxes. But the property owners had laid 1080 around the place 2 weeks before.Saw a heap of bunnies when the wind calmed down a bit.I will say i have noticed full moon nights animals are a bit more skittish.

Heres a news article from a few years ago in the canberra times news paper.

Today a man was attacked and killed by a falling drop bear. The attack happend as the man was walking through lady denman park in canberra.Eye witnesses say the man never had a chance as the dropbear was so big and aggressive.Onlookers ran for their lives as the bear wasnt happy with just one meal and started to look for another. The drop bear was eventually shot after a 6 hour search of the area, the australian armys special forces were called in to dispatch the animal.Residents of the nearby appartment complex say they heard many shots fired and lots of screaming and yelling. The bear was only young to and could have done a lot more damage.
None of the special forces crew were seriously injured, just some major scratches and bites.Im irish murphy reporting to you from canberra.

hahahahahhahahahahhahah
