I'm gonna go ahead and throw my piece in. It's in no way the fault of any game. I do and have played "shoot em up" games since I was old enough to figure the controls out, as have several of my brothers and most of my friends. None of us view life as less precious. If anything, it gives me more appreciation because it shows how easily a person can die when bad things happen. I believe every common problem with my generation began with the parents not disciplining the children and teaching them values. It ultimately comes down to bad parenting. If a parent expects to go work 5-6 days a week and hire a "nanny" to raise their children, how on earth can they expect that child to respect anything they say or do? How can anyone expect that child to turn out as a child who's parents actually care what they're taught? I personally believe that at least one parent should be around a child at all times(except like if the child goes to camp or visits a friend or relative or the grandparents watch them for special occasions) until that child is responsible enough to make decisions on their own. At that point the parents should allow them to make decisions and to learn that there are consequences(unless its something really bad).
So there you have it. My generation's problems stem from bad parenting.
