Yea, and for a gun owner in Illinois, all of us gun owners in Illinois, we know what's coming next.
Waking up to the TV this morning, the first words out of the medias mouth after they broke the story was, they're blaming guns, gangs and drugs... What cracks me up is this, Chicago already has ban. YOU CAN'T OWN A HANDGUN WITH IN THE CITY LIMITS OF CHICAGO! Any yet they're calling for more gun bans.

They know it's gang and drug related yet they want to ban guns. From us all. If they have an existing ban, and gang bangers/criminals are still getting and using them. Do they think they won't with any other/more bans?

Personally, I wish they;d let them all shoot each other and get it over with.

They won't give them their rights back. They think it isn't enough and if they ban more it will help. They couldn't be more WRONG!!!

Of course, its always the guns fault, jumped right out their waist bands and went off by themselves !!

I saw that also in the news, I think it was the mayor saying "too many guns" ..

Now it's up to 36.
36 shootings, 9 homicides reported in Chicago over weekend - Yahoo! News

I mean shooting up a plumbing supply store with an AK47? This is someone wanting to see another ban. That has to be someone that wants the assault weapons ban and decided to use all the shootings this weekend to boost the chances. And I have to wonder just how much of this isn't not only gang related and drugs related but if any is someone pushing for a ban and hiring someone to do a lil extra shooting?

I know it sounds crazy, but WTF is going on them? I mean, Daley just recently had this ban agenda that was going around, now there's all these killing this weekend, and I don;t doubt 90% is gang and drug related, but the AK47 being used to shoot up a plumbing supply store is just weird and suspect? I don;t doubt someone wouldn't try and take advantage and do something like that, or even pay someone to? Anythings possible.

But I tell you what, for Chicago, like DC, having an all out handgun ban within city limits, it sure isn't working. Now they'll be crying for more bans, gun laws and gun control and it will only affect legal law abiding registered gun owners and even still and even then these dam shootings will continue. Sure, they just might die down for a while, but they'll always be happening at sometime or another!!!

God, I have gotta move. Illinois gun owners are about to get SCREWED!!!!

You need to vote out the idiots, and vote in some one witha little bit of sense. The guns aren't doing the damage, the criminals are! And they'd do it with rocks, or sticks, or axes, it doesn't matter!!

OK, but show me the non idiot running for office? It is impossible for any non rich person to run for any major office, since it costs hundreds of millions to campaign someone.

One side wants to ban guns while the other preaches home land security, I mean either way we lose.

I know Scotty. But the problem is, when crap like this and like what happened at NIU this past February, it's hard. People that don't research how gun control and bans don't work, that don't own guns themselves etc.etc. don't vote them out because they think with all the shooting it's time for gun control or whatever.

I mean it's obvious most are gang/drug related. But the one in the news story I linked that sticks out is where it says someone even shot up a plumbing supply store with an AK47. First I'd ask, who said it was an AK47, where's the proof and if it was, why would someone do that unless it was to add to the shootings to help bring about a ban? MHO that is. It's just very strange to me is all.

I wish my son didn't have 5 years before he graduated. I'm ready to get out of here now. Just can't though.

Glock-

Everything that is an issue in our nation gets tossed around in the media be it: Guns, abortion, global warming, terrorism, politics, drugs, scandals, celebrities, etc. Hardly does anyone actually report news anymore. This is because when they just reported the news they didn't make any money, now that it is all spiced up and edgy they make more profit.

Half the people on this forum think Obama is a Muslim with links to terrorists, I mean come on!

I agree with you though, if everyone were just more educated then maybe they wouldn't be sheep to the media, but then again who knows, because according to some people, not everyone wants an education, they want to be dumb. Which, in all honesty, could be totally true. Some people need to be told what to believe in or think about. I dated a chick like that once that wanted me to make every decision for her, some people just need to be told what to do.

It is really all restricted to one part of town where all the violence happens.
it's 2 parts of town in Chicago, the west side and the south side/south suburbs

Okay one more time and I will say it slowly so everyone understands.

Gun Control doesn't work, gun control does not reduce crime, gun control only affects the law abiding because criminals already don't obey any other laws why in HELL should they obey gun control laws!
And lastly why would any rational , educated thinking person ever believe that a law saying you can't own a gun of any description in our city is ever ever ever going to keep a criminal from getting and using one in their criminal acts? Yoo Hoo law makers are you that freakin brain dead? Damn it wake up and allow the law abiding the means to defend themselves.

I don't necessarily consider gang bangers offing each other to be a "bad thing."

O.K. but . . . .

. . . . how many jobs went overseas over the weekend? How many families broke apart over unemployment or lack of viable employment over the weekend? How many people lost their homes due to predatory
lending to unqualified buyers over the weekend? How many teenage girls from financially broken homes rushed into fantasy relationships and became pregnant over the weekend?

My point - quit looking at the end situation and look at causes of the end situation in so many, many cases.

Precisely..................

Restrictive gun control is a cause factor in crimes committed by bad people with firearms because it denies a crucial tool with which good people can defend themselves.

Gun control is a cause factor in crimes commited by bad people with firearms because it removes a credible deterrent to the bad guys--that the good guys may well be armed.

Gun control is a cause factor because it creates "gun free" shooting galleries where evil preditors can kill at will, because they know their prey is unlikely to be able to provide decisive resistance.

Questions ?

Well it's because all of the gangbangers are carrying .500 S&W's. See Blagovdabitch and ole Daily told us this was going to happen if S&W released that big ole gun!

Toolman, I never seen a gangbanger with the guts to pull the trigger on a S&W 500! They got all them puny 9MM squirt guns, last I heard. Oh yeah, some are gettin' into SKS and AK rifles, 'cause they don't have a lot of recoil. But the bottom line, if they have guns, and we don't, we are in deep doo doo!!!

Hello TxPLT

Yes, gun control is a major factor in giving the desperate and the evil a sense of empowerment over a defenseless population.

My point is the failure of our government to work toward expanding, protecting, enriching, and providing greater freedoms to the middle class.

They're afraid of us, and well they should be, when we decide to stand as one voice, and demand that they do the job, or go home! The politicians know they're standing on a slippery slope, and could be out of a job, any time we get tired of 'em. Now, if they was to disarm us, we'd be left holding a bag a s...!
