im on a mission to start on the lower reciever thats been in my closet for a rainy day. ibought it knowing if i bought i, my compulsive pesonality would have to finish it or it i would go crazy(thus creating a ar15). anyway. ive never buit a kit. and seeking lower reciever parts kits right now is like seeking the holy grail. i want t get one soon. rockriver is way way way back ordered. i was checking out the parts kit went to add to cart and said deivery may be 6 TO 8 MONTHS! holy cow. so i was wandering if dpms ar15 parts kit will work in my high standard milspec lower. any thought? thaks

I've not heard the greatest things about the DPMS lower parts kits... They make great guns, but I've heard their parts kits are their weak link.

thanks for the advice, i own a dpms and love it ut ive heard they dont make the greatest parts kits, so with that said what would you go with rock river, thats th only other brand i know that will stand to the test. has anyone used any other companies that they recomend?

Well, first things first, what are you wanting this rifle for? Hunting, fun at the range, SHTF? I just installed two DPMS lower parts kits in two stripped lowers. If I go to the range this weekend I'll slap an upper on one of them to see how I like the trigger. Rainier Arms is a good place to buy from, also check ar15sales.com. Now, Rainier Arms does have the two stage RRA lower parts kits in stock, thats why I asked if this was for hunting or some type of precision rifle. If this is just for the range, something fun to build, order the DPMS, anything more, try to get your hands on the RRA LPK's, the trigger is beyond great.

I haven't ever used the DPMS lower parts kit. I've talked with a lot of ppl that have that love them. However, this is the brand of lpk that I see more people complain about that any other. Very often they complain about the triggers, trigger guard pin being too tight (PRED ), and misc other parts being out of spec. Chances are it will be fine, but for a few bucks more, I think there are better options out there.

I second what pred said with ar15sales.com. He has RRA parts kits for about $63 shipped. If you go to AIMSurplus, your home for surplus ammunition, guns and firearms, go to accessories, ar15 accessories, then lowers and lower parts, they have the CMMG lower parts kits for $56 shipped. Either of those, in my humble opinion, would be a better choice.

DPMS, Bushmaster, are both great lower kits. You might try Midway usa, or Bravo company. I have a Bushmaster and Colt Ar15's.

I don't know off hand how much a Bushmaster LPK is, but I will say this. My RRA trigger is much nicer then my brother in laws Bushmaster.

Aimsurplus is having a sale on CMMG lower parts kits for an amazing price. I am sold on CMMG and I personally believe they are every bit as good as LMT, Colt, and the top tier manufactures. Also, check out Bravo company, great people and great prices. I built my lower with an LPK from Rock River Arms that I got at a gun show, the trigger alone cost well over $100, but it is exactly what I wanted. I've got one rifle with the 2-stage and one with the standard trigger. Not much difference in my mind. I do like the 2-stage on my 24" bbl rifle though, helps keep the rifle steadier. But, on an M4 or shorty type setup, the standard trigger will do fine.

thanks for the advice everyone, iwill be making a purchase soon . now another question, has anyone put in a timney drop in for ar10 thats the only upgrade i need for my precision setup. they are pricey but i havnt a clue if theres any other ar10 triggers out there.
