I think it is the true face of the Democrat party that when they do something as atrocious as this, they reward them with a lifetime in office.
At least the Repubs put their miscreants out to pasture. | Tell me again that you're an Independent, instead of a Karl Rove Republican...I haven't had a good laugh all morning.

It may now be because it's become the norm., but, it was/is from company attorney's, insurance and workmen's comp insurance companies advising companies to cover their backsides, to reduce ins. premiums and to protect/prevent the insurance and worker's comp ins. companies from having to payout more than they have to.

I was simply pointing out that although he claims to be an Independent, Mitch is a Republican attack dog in the grand old tradition of Karl Rove: instead of trying to engage in any sort of reasoned discussion, he simply hectors us at every opportunity about what scum Democrats are.

At least the Repubs put their miscreants out to pasture. | Mitch, I can totally understand where you're coming from. But keep in mind, Kennedy is not the first nor will he be the last to have gotten off or out of some incident based on his credentials, status or name.
This has happened quite a bit and in my eyes, in the past few years is finally starting to change, somewhat. Although some are getting jail time, it isn't the kind of jail or time you or I'd get, but none the less, it's jail time. Granted some are just getting community service, but again, both are better then what it use to be, NOTHING!
I still agree it should be more, but it's a start. Better late then never they say, right?

why feed the dog? dont get me wrong , im as right wing as you can get, some would probably call me border line reactionary, but i like both sides to argue, i hate politics but i have an opinion and like to hear the discussions, personally i prefer biology, but not as many people have an opinion on that
just argue the facts, why even call him someone like karl rove (dont see how thats really insulting) that just instigates improper discussion
sorry to, i dont mean to lecture, especially seeing as how im only about to be 20 may 28th (think of birthday gifts now dudes )

I know why they did it. I'm not pro drug. I just think that it is an invasion of privacy. I once went to a concert in ATL when I jokingly asked my boss about testing policy he asked had "I been around many drugs". "I asked r u chitin' me it ,was an Allman brothers concert. what do u think". I could have been fired if I had been tested. No I did'nt if your wondering.

atlanta has alot of problems with drugs, ive seen crack and heroin deals go down in little 5 points where my girlfriend lives (i hate that place, full of hippies and scene kids, mostly suburbanites go there and over-pay for some trendy jeans er something, so its rich people, annoying locals, and lots of homeless who are opportunistic thieves and vultures, my girlfriend yells at them when they ask for money, i never give them a dime regardless, and i tell other people not to as well if they aint from the area, the business association was going to put up "do not give the homeless money" signs....i kid you not, its that bad)

What Kennedy did was wrong, period. Using the family name with the help of the DNC to stay out of jail and avoid prosecution is appalling. Period.
Had that been anyone else, he would have lead the charge for the death penalty or life in prison. Period.

... which is why I included "life", Troy...
Pretty hypocritical in my opinion, considering he should have gotten the same sentence.

If memory serves, he got a year's probation and had his Massachusetts driver's license suspended. The general reaction around the state was that wasn't good enough, that he should have been charged with manslaughter.
I will note, however, that something else in terms of law came out of Ted's crash off the Chappaquiddick Bridge.
Even though his Massachusetts license had been suspended, he continued to drive legally. How is that possible, you ask? Answer: He had driver's licenses from DC and New York in addition to his Massachusetts license! Back in the 70s, if you owned property in another state, and he did, you could obtain a driver's license from that state. Computers to check whether or not you had another license didn't exist then; you just walked in, showed the DMV a couple of utility bills, took a driving test and got the license. When what he was doing came to light, a bill was passed and signed into law that required one license to be surrendered before you could get one from another state, so everyone only had one.

No doctor or lawyer I know has ever been drug tested for a job.

Heck, do LEOs even get tested after hiring? I honestly do not know.

I do believe we should be able to walk in and test a cop, judge ,lawyer, or politician any time we want to. I also believe before you run for office you should have to pass two test one is to see if your crazy. The other test would be to change the oil in your own car and rotate the tires without looking in a book.

- Coeloptera | I wouldn't say that, Coel. I get drug-tested as a federal mandate, because I'm an operating engineer at a natural-gas compressor plant that deals with pipelines 30" and 36" across, holding 700 pounds of pressure per square inch, and fed by compressors that add up to thousands of horsepower. Then there are the cooling towers and fin-fan arrays, generators the size of trucks to provide electrical power, spiderwebs of miscellaneous small piping carrying natural gas, compressed air, oil, water, etc.
I'm not claiming any reasonably competent person couldn't do my job, but it's a vital one. I'm the only one operating when Im on shift (as opposed to maintenance, instrument calibration, etc), and at night I'm the only one there period, when it's my shift. If I blew the place up, Southern California would be hard-up for natural gas. Electricity too, because most of our generating plants run on natural gas.
None of which changes my opinion of mandatory random drug-testing, of course; I still think it's a crock. But at least I understand why they' think they have to keep an eye on me...

Okay on the notion of drug/alchohol testing, hath thou ever considered that ANY freakin time a four wheeler (personal vehicle) and an 18 wheeler is involved in ANY accident/incident the 18 wheeler driver is immediately tested for drugs or alchohol whilst the poor "Victim" four wheel driver simply goes to the hospital? I drove for awhile my friends and sad fact is most "Big Truck" and passenger vehicle accidents are NOT the fault of the truck driver but of the passenger vehicle driver. Gawd knows how many brain dead soccor moms, yuppies and stoners I dodged driving trucks as they talked on cell phones , picked their noses or bopped to the tunes on their radios and or visited with passengers riding with them!
