Well, I'll be flying to NY today. A friend of mine is moving back here for a while, so I decided for a little time off work was in order.
Gonna move his stuff from his small one-bedroom apt in Wappingers Falls into a storage garage on Sunday, then hit the road and drive 1850 miles back to Denver in his Honda. Might make a stop at the Gateway Arch.
Should be cool. I'll be back next Wednesday or Thursday.
I am a bit peeved that I won't have a firearm with me in the car, since I couldn't get it into NY State legally, unless I drove it there myself. But, oh well. I'll just hope for the best.
I'm out in about an hour & half. Catch ya'll next week!

You can't declare it, and put it in baggage? Is NY that strict? Heck, I delivered a rifle to Ca., bought another one, and brought it back! I kinda thought they were the strictest in the land, except for DC.
NY's reciprocity with CO does not exist. The moment I take posession of that firearm at the airport, it would be illegal. Through research, the only way I've seen is to ship it to an FFL and pick it up from them after they do a check on me (and I pay for it). A rifle could be a different story, but this is what I found with a handgun anyway.

I am going to upstate, but I am flying into LaGuardia, in Queens. I think it is the same mostly state-wide concerning handguns and concealed carry of them.

Damn, Ivan, I wish I'd known about this earlier! I live within an hour of Wappingers Falls. I'd love to meet a fellow G&G'er face to face, but I'm completely booked this weekend. There are two sales my wife HAS to go to, and my autistic son is looking forward to his favorite amusement park opening this weekend. I'd even have been willing to help schlep stuff... but there's no way I can break free this weekend.
And yes, NY is that bad all over. Also, please be advised NY State does not have reciprocity with ANYBODY regarding pistol permits! If you can leave it home, I urgently suggest you do so!
lol I remember when I had to travel to NYS to visit family. I would have to travel through PA and then into NY. To make extra sure on various laws I called the state police of both states.
I called PA state police and asked them.
"Yea sure No problem! Just dont shoot anyone haha just kidding! Enjoy your visit!"
Then I called NYSP

Ivan, FWIW, Sarco is pretty much right on your way back if you come around the bottom side on 287. They aren't far off the big road at all and they're just over the state line in Jersey, so no NY BS...If you want, I'll dig up all of my old "gun stops" along the way for ya.
Stopped at the St. Louis Arch. It is fricking GYNORMOUS!! 60 stories tall!? I didn't think it was that big. Anyhow, the Mississippi river was a bit high as well, about 25 feet high actually, and some of the roads indicated it was about 10-15 feet higher than that recently as well. We stopped off at the one of the Floating Casinos; that was pretty cool. Only stayed for about 30 minutes though. They allow smoking and I couldn't handle the stank! It was fun though.
Here's some Pics:

living here in NY and having a pistol permit I can tell you that obtaining a pistol permit from NY city is almost impossible, up state not as bad, you are probably looking at a year in jail for having an illegal pistol/ revolver how ever I do believe you have a right to travel interstate with any firearm that is unloaded and secured in the trunk.
