Scopes for the PU and PE projects

I have several PU snipers to "restore". One is a Samco PU sniper and the rest are ex-PU's, then one of the ex-PE tp mount rifles will be done with the repro PE top mount and scope shown in the pic.

Nice collection. Post a pic when done. We always like a good sniper... as long as we are not in the crosshairs/aiming-point.

What would it take to restore an ex sniper back to a sniper, where can you find the bent bolt, and an original scope?

Mosin Shooter, well I don't have any beat up PU's

sorry or I'd sell you one.

PE is a 4X

TO restore an ex-PU you send to a certain guy and he'll drill out your screws and opins and mount your mount. Now finding an original scope and mount is hard to do. You just have to keep looking.

i saw this on Ebay when i typed in m91/30. anyone have any experience with this? the seller claims that no gunsmithing is necessary. i'd like to pick up another m91/30 and turn it into a sniper. would i have to cut and re-weld the bolt handle?

No you would not have to cut and weld the bolt BUT

you would need a long eye relief scope as in a pistol scope or a red dot.

Somewhere we have a long disertation on mounting a scout scope using the rear sight mount type rail that you found on e-bay.

This is a good source. I like the 2-7 x 32, which I have mounted on Camo Natalia in the attached picture(posted for about the 5th time for expediency).

NcSTAR Illuminated Pistol & Long Eye Relief Scope - 2-7x32e Black Scope / Blue / Ring SEPB2732B w/ FREE UPS Riflescope Rifle scope 2-7x32mm

The secret to using the scout scope rail is not overtightening the hex screws (the rail is aluminum) If you need help. Just ask.

cool rifle Geo...thanks for the link...does that scope come with the mount? or should i go ahead and get the one on ebay? also, the scope looks a bit far from where the shooters eye would be...have you had any problems seeing what you're shooting at?

It will depend on what you want. Scout rig or Sniper.

So far all of the M91/30s that I have seen have the PU scope mounted. How popular was the PE scope?

I saw a PE on EBAY but have not found a site that has repros for the PE. Any comments?
