Yes, thank you....I also thought it.....most approprate. Simple common-sense definations, without any nonsense, of "why we pack".

I agree with the post Marine 1.

I think all of us who carry do our absolute best to avoid a fight at all times.

Certainly a $15 mugging wouldn't be worth shooting someone; however, if that individual has chosen the expressed or implied force of violence against me it is to that threat which I'll respond. It is the unacceptable use of force or violence (or threat thereof) against me that may require a decisive use of deadly force. I would make no apologies for such a response, and commend any that would do so in that situation. The "social injustice" or tough breaks the bad guy may have gotten in his life quite simply don't and shouldn't matter. Good guys don't steal, rob, rape, assault, or murder (this is a very basic premise of right and wrong). Those who choose to do so deserve to reap the consequences of their bad actions.

not only drawing, but reloading and shooting. You need to keep your whits keen on all the functions on a firearm. I was taught to practice, practice, practice, by my father. he taught me everything he had learned in the army and my mother taught me everything she learned from sled. After you clear your weapon it is good to do small practices. Saftey, fire. or clear, fire. reloading is one, both tactial and drop. Every time I clean my handgun that i carry, ( once a week) I check it over compleatly, check the sights , safteys, and all the holes nooks and crannies. then do some function tests, and some reloading tests. If you were to time yourself you would notice what your "score" would be if you did it once a week compared to once a month. Also on my carry "list' is at least 2 reloads of ammo, a VERY sharp sheath knife (or onehanded opening), and a cell phone.

yeah but no one's life is worth $15, even if they are robbing you, plus 9 times out of 10 the mugger will have the jump on you. Hope you can quick draw and have good aim. If I were to be a criminal I would make sure I would flank my victim every time with always myself having the upper hand. I would have to assume that most of them think that way, it only makes sense to put them in the advantage over you. I could be wrong and I do suppose there are dumb crooks out there as well.

Just for the sake of talking about this, has anyone ever had to pull out their weapon in a defense situation, and if you don't mind talking about it how was it resolved? Do, you think that one incident will deter a mugger when facing an armed victim, or do you think that will just force the mugger to get armed them self?
