yeah I guess you're right about the 3rd party info it is in my book but I have not reloaded it for safety reasons, I think the gun will handle it I just don't have any way to measure the pressure so I will not try the load besides there is no need to overload an already hot round. But my experience with the recoil is as true as it gets, the 338 RUM definately kicks but it is not intollerable i would rate it at 7mmRM, I wish I had the book to see the exact load but as I stated it is in my reloading room at my grandfathers house. And I only have 4-5 books so keeping them streight is hard when they are not in front of me! It was a misunderstanding no biggie I just don't like to be called a liar!

Intresting read

To put it all in context I would highly recomend reading E.N.Woodcock's
50 Years a Hunter & Trapper "found thru FFG book store" were he details his experences market hunting in late 19th century Western Pennsylvania Deer & Black Bear and later on in western states in the early 1900's
he details his preferences for eastern game and recomends useing a heaver rifle for western bear's "Grizz?" He died before the first world war.

Very rarely do we let anything get out of hand, even if something may come across as snobbish, or mean spirited, it is all in good fun. After all, we have to stick together!
