Txplt, you ever have to fly in a typhoon? We had to go to Cubi Point after a mission, 'cause a bunch of our equipment got shook up, and quit working. At nineteen, I could get a bit nervous about things, and after I saw the only mountain around the NAS go sliding by, in the clouds, I turned it on! We came in on GCA, and I kept my eyes glued to the porthole, waiting to see water come up at us. Fortunately, it was blacktop that came into view, just as we touched down. We sat out there in howling wind, and near zero visibility, until a pilot truck came out to lead us in. I about drowned, sitting under that open upper hatch, and thought to myself, now THIS is really helping my electronic gear! Thankfully, the storm blew itself out, by the time they got our bird repaired.

Hey ya'll afraid to use the whole quotation? I believe "it's the pot callin the kettle black." And as far as I'm concerned it has nothing to do with race but color.

If Hillary was a man she would have cajones the size of Kettles. How anyone with her voting record on gun control and gun-grabbing could attack anyone, even Obama, on his Second Amendment stance is purely comical. Both their ideas on gun control are as alike as two peas in a pod. This is totally laughable.
George Soros is a danger to the United States more because of the money he can control to further his ideas than of the ideas themselves. He wants to be a King maker and destroy the U.S. from within and economic pressure from within and without through the people corporations, and busnesses he controls.

No, scotty--conditions never were so urgent for us that we had to--nipped a few hurricanes getting airplanes out from coastal areas though. Wound up in a couple of storms in fighters early in my career (usually due to poor radar work by me or the right seater--our F-111 radar was older and needed to be tuned properly and sometimes we didn't). It wasn't alot of fun keeping the airplane under control, and, even though it was stressed as a fighter, the storms beat us up pretty bad (was on the wing once and had to go lost wingman because I thought I might hit the other guy due to the extreme turbulence). Didn't want to repeat the experience, so I've been trying my best not to. Now, we work our way around the typhoons. If one's in the middle of hitting where we're going, we'll usually go somewhere else. Gotten too scared in my old age wanting to get older , and the risk tangling with typhoons or thunderstorms isn't worth it--I'll divert to somewhere safe and the boxes can get there tomorrow.

Sounds like a sporty experience for you--I'll bet the pilots were happy to be on the ground as well !

Everybody was happy! We got two days in Subic City, and had some fun. Then it was back to work, and hoping something didn't go wrong, during the approach to the carrier. It was an exciting time for a kid, and I've been glad it's over for more years than I can count! But it's one of those experiences that, no matter how terrifying, you wouldn't trade for a million bucks! And I agree, Windwalker, Soros is a danger to our freedoms, because he has allies in his quest. But, as Cyrano pointed out, the man has rights, just like us! The only problem is, we don't have the funds to fight his craziness.

We collectively have the votes, though. Also, although Mr. Soros and the likes can fund the propaganda and media machines, their numbers are small and we all still have voices and a well-reasoned argument. The NRA can speak somewhat loudly too at times. The internet also provides an uncensorable source of information. We can use all of these to make our points.

Well, I'm slowly learning to navigate the internet, so I guess an old dog CAN learn new tricks. And when I hear a conversation about abridging our rights, I politely explain that if we give an inch they'll take it to the limit! Which, to me, means a disarmed and defenceless American populace. And I do excercise my privilege to vote.

Amen, Scotty! I vote in every election I'm eligable for (as an independent I can't vote in party primaries), from school committe and budget referenda to the general election every 4 years.

I accept jury duty when my name comes up as it does every 4 years or so but haven't had to sit on one yet. The one time my number was drawn from the drum they use for picking potential jurors in the courtroom, I was voir dire'd by the defense. He wanted to know if I owned a gun, and if I was a member of the NRA. Prosecution objected; defense argued that as it was a murder trial and NRA members as a group are agin that, therefore I was by virtue of my membership prejudiced against the defendant. Judge overruled defense. Defense asked what magazines I read. I told him: The Economist, The American Rifleman, Guns & Ammo, Gun Tests, Colors, and some medievalist magazines. Defense asked what I knew about the case. I told him I knew nothing about the case; hadn't even been aware of it until I got to court because i don't read the local paper (a Gannett rag that is written for the ill-educated). He asked if I thought his client was innocent or guilty (of beating a homeowner to death with a baseball bat in the course of a burglary). I told him I knew nothing about his client, that his guilt or innocence was what we were there to determine. I was challenged off the jury by the defense. I guess he didn't want anyone with a brain who had a clue about how a trial is supposed to work on the jury.

And as an example of how your vote can make a difference, which is why everyone should vote in every election they can: The local high school Athletics Department tried for five years to get money in the budget to replace the perfectly good grass turf on the football field with Astroturf. It would have cost $5 million. The budgets that had that line item in them were voted down by the town, three times some years, until the School Committee would take that item out of the budget. Then the Athletics Department tried putting it on the ballot as a referendum, and THAT got voted down twice. The jocks finally took the hint and did fund-raising to get the money to replace the real turf with artificial turf - just in time for the NFL to publish a study proving that football players suffer more injuries on Astroturf than on real turf and recommending the league go back to real turf instead of the fake stuff. The jocks are going ahead with their plan - but at least the taxpayers aren't footing the bill for it.

Your vote can make a difference. I mean, look how few votes Obfuscatin' Obama won Guam by. If 22 people hadn't bothered to vote, Slick Hillary would have won those delegates and not the Obfuscator. Everyone needs to get out and vote, every time. Remember, if you don't vote, you aren't entitled to bitch about how the politicians are screwing things up!

What's the problem, Rave? I AM learning to operate this thing, and I AM old, and I DO excercise my privilege to vote. And I DO believe that if we let our rights get chipped away, we will have no rights. Now, what exactly is wrong with that post? And guess what? I'm asking politely, and not looking for any kind of argument. Or do you simply disagree with everything you see on here? What's the problem?

I don't think anyone was seriously trying to be PC, Cyrille. It's just funnier the other way, tip-toeing around the word.

It's all BS,none of the above!
The media does seem to support Obama Bin Ladin, managed to keep the closet door closed for at least 80% of the election, then,POW,the closet door flew open and the truth started spilling out.
The media has been in a frenzy making up excuses for him, while trying to get the door closed and whipeing up the dammed truth, kinda put a bump in his road to the white house, but the truth will soon be cleaned up and forgotten and his way will be clear again.
None of the above!

Personally, I think the campaign finance laws need to be changed to state that "Any candidate can only spend X amount of $$$ during a campaign, no matter who provides the funds. This amount would ideally be tied to a very small percentage of the GNP.

I just read something hilarious about the Obama-is-anti-gun flier the Clinton campaign was putting out: the gun pictured on the front of the flier is flip-flopped, with the bolt handle on the left. Boy, that'll show the gun owners that Hiillary underatnds guns, won't it? And whether it was intentional or not (probably not, but funny anyway), the gun is pointed at Obama's head.

It's also a rare and expensive German Mauser 66 with a set-trigger; at about $2,200.00, it's hardly a typical gun to the average Joe Hunter/gun owner Clinton was trying to appeal to.

There's a picture of the flier, and a picture of a real Mauser 66, on this blog:

I was going to be nice, and suggest that they found a lefthanded rifle for the ad, but the blog put that to rest. Panther is making leftie AR15's, and my uncle had a leftie Savage made for himself, after losing an eye in WW2, so I thought, what the hey, they found a rare rifle for the ad. Sorry, but no cigar, Hil! (NO pun intended, it just came out that way!)
