Just checked. The new models are polymer and 25 ounces. The old model is alloy and 29 ounces. There are still some alloy ones out there so the site still says 29 ounces.

If you like highpoints, more power to you..congrats. But lets not get carried away here. Comparing a highpoint to a Sig??? Thats like comparing a goat to a lawnmower.

Pics coming in 10 days! | That's good to hear.. I just called one of the shops here and they said they wouldn't even sell the thing! They have always been gun snobs at the shop though! lol I just saw a post talking about shops selling a bunch and none being returned and that's whats been happening at another shop here! Hell, I saw a cop carrying a HP .45 the other day and I know this particular guy has a Glock 22! And obviously if state prison systems are adopting the HP carbines, they can't be JUNK in my opinion! I could be wrong but I think you made a good purchase! Don't let pesky fees keep you from getting the things you want!! CONGRATS on the new purchase!!

Writing about Hi-points...
...I checked out a 9mm carbine last week while visiting a local gunnery.
Dang,...
...some day I hope the Hi-Point folks release the .45ACP carbine.

| High point 9mm (c-9) I am all for the high point 9mm. I love this weapon system. I am in the military and have fired and trained on many weapon systems. The high point exels beyond many systems I have ever worked with. I had the opprotunity to fire both, the brand new M-4 semi auto assualt rifle and my personal use semi auto High Point 9mm C-9 handgun. The brand new M-4 I used at the qualify range, I fired 40 rounds and the weapon malfunctioned 4x's, I fired 42 rounds out of the High Point with zero malfunctions. they both have seperate break in periods and neither were reached so there for I will break in both weapons and than post again to prove this fact. The fact that the highpoint is a $140 firearms and the M-4 is a $450 + weapon system. I really enjoy my high point 9mm (c-9). |

Wow, you paid a lot for a C-9. Normally less then $150. Buy yourself a houge slip on grip for it. Makes the shooting so much better

| Goats to Lawnmower
You are right. The goat feeds itself and I dont have to worry about getting it gas or maintaining it (hi-point lifetime warranty). I was shooting my .40 hipoint handgun at the rang. The guy next to me had a Sig 226. Broke on him. Guess who gets stuck with that bill? No gun owner wants to hear that a $150 dollar gun performs in the ball park of their 650 plus costing gun. Who cares if its ugly if it can kill someone? No one is going to say ... ooo what a threatening 1911 you have and then die. *i am a 1911 lover btw, just citing an example*. And whats with this lighter is better kick? There used to be a time when a lighter gun was a bad thing. I mean hell, cant keep your arm extended for long with a heavier gun anymore? Heavier gun=less recoil. Whats it matter that you struggle to hold it up at the range? Plan on having to hold ur arms up for 2 hours to fend of an assailant? ...........
Sorry, had to vent.
And the .45 Carbine comes out this year!!! Check the Hi-Point website!! |

I had to carry my C9 into walmart once because I didn't feel safe leaving it in my car. I concealed it in my leg cargo shorts pocket and by the time I left the store my leg was all black and blue from it banging my leg while I walked. Definitely not a good conceal gun but a good gun for a good price.

For a gun to keep in your car under the seat or whatever the Hi-Points make a lot of sense, if it gets stolen you're not out a ton of $. Sure I'd rather have a Colt Govenment Model but try leaving one of those in your glovebox and going to a movie without worrying about it.

Holy Moly!
I can't believe I am seeing this thread again after posting over two years ago. Well, I still have the Hi-Point, and it has had about 2,000 rounds run through it, and still in good working order.
It looks a little different now, added a Hogue Handall grip, and I painted the stock grips with a woodsy finish. Unfortunately I lost one of my magazines so I am down to two.
Thanks for the blast from the past!
