Oklahoma senate passes hunters rights protection measure!

I don't know how to post links, but this was sent to me by NRA-ILA. The measure was passed unanimously, by the house and senate, and will go on the ballot in November. It will make us the first state to have constitutional protection from such organizations as PETA and HSUS!

Maybe other states will follow, and start protecting their hunters and fishermen from the wackos!

Sounds good to me. I don't mean to hijack your thread, Scotty, but here's a write-up on HSUS for those not familiar with it. Its name is deliberately intended to make people associate it with animal shelters and mistake it for some official organization, and so is its advertising, with pictures of cute kitties and puppies. But the reality is that it's an "animal rights" organization, not an animal welfare organization, as the article points out. It wants to ban all hunting and all animal agriculture, and force us all to become vegans.

I read about them, T2K, and they are as crazy as PETA! This measure in Ok. will at least protect our state's hunting and fishing, and maybe the other states will see it as a good thing. These folks are getting way out of hand, trying to force their strange beliefs on the rest of us. If God didn't want us to eat meat, He'd have made it taste like dog poop!

And worth voting for! It was a unanimous vote, by the senate and house of OK! Maybe we can get the rest of the country on the bandwagon! But the crazies will prob'ly sue us again!

Here's a link to an NRA news release. It doesn't really say much more than Scotty did, though. The measure should be on the ballot for this fall's general elections.

NRA-ILA :: Legislation

edit: Here we go; I found a transcript of what would be added to the Oklahoma State Constitution:

All citizens of this state shall have an inherent right to engage in hunting, trapping, fishing, and taking game and fish, free of state laws which explicitly or implicitly effectively prohibit the ability of citizens to engage in such activities. Hunting, trapping, fishing and the taking of game and fish are a valued part of our heritage and will forever be preserved for the people. The Wildlife Conservation Commission shall be vested with the power and authority to approve methods, practices and procedures for hunting, trapping, fishing and the taking of game and fish.

I'm glad states are doing this, whether or not to protect itself form the "Anti's". But it's also sad. Sad because we shouldn't have to make a law to allow us to keep hunting. I guess it's jsut another step to show us how sad some people are.

I was in Oklahoma when this got started. Seems these groups would organize and move thru the woods banging metal pans, setting off firecrackers and blowing those compressed-air-in-a-can horns during hunting season. A few enterprising hunters found out where some lived and would drive by the people's homes at night, returning the favor. This was going on at the same time that those idiots were demonstrating at soldier's funerals and ran head-on to some motorcycle groups consisting of veterans and the two, while not connected, kinda fueled each other.
I hope all states adopt such legislation.

gah why cant my state pass awesome laws... Everything is so messed up here.

Did you know in Maryland the police can come arrest you for stealing a candy bar just by the statements of witnesses, but if some random person not related to you comes and beats the living crap out of you and u get knocked unconsciouses and you have 20 witnesses, and the guy even admits it, they cant arrest the guy right there, they have to go get a warrant.

LAME!!!!

Well that's what you get for living up there. LOL! Remember that it's you and your neighbors that voted the idiots into office to begin with. Come November, you'll re-elect the same morons. Look at Kennedy. If he died tomorrow, Mass. residents would still re-elect him. All I can say is move to a fly-over state and get your life back.

Hey, we beat Alaska to statehood!!! Yippee!! It's all relative, and I hope we're opening the eyes of other hunters and sportsmen, in the other states. If we don't stand for our rights, nobody else will. We are all pretty much on the same page, and need to spread the information to those withtheir heads in the sand. Brother Bob, it's awful wet out here, right now. Sure you want to move back? Check out the weather, and ask your wife, 'cause mine gave me heck for getting stuck, and not making it home til I could see the road. Got home, and now she's calm, so it's good! We need to get folks to realize, if they don't pay attention, we will all lose!
