I guess if you were an illegal citizen from wherever that you'd take your chances on sneaking into this country because there are little to no repercussions for being here illegally.

First off, 20 million is the scare tactic. Since illegals don't register or file for taxes and are here illegally, it is kind of hard to actually track them. If you dig into it and read in between the lines, the number of illegal immigrants is actually between 12 and 20 million. They know that there is at least 12 million, but probably not any more than 20 million. So making that assumption could be wrong. While, I am not saying it isn't a problem, but it is a problem that is just adding to another problem. Since most of them are at or below the poverty line they can't afford things like health care. Since our profit based health care system relies on the money or income of people to pay for benefits (and then denies you half those benefits anyway) you see things like hospitals close down because they can not refuse service to anyone, and they also can't collect money from everyone either. Now, if we got rid of all the immigrants we would still have poor people that could not afford health care, and with the economy in decline it would only get worse. You wouldn't fix the problem at all, you would just be putting a band aid on it until something else happened. Perhaps a pot hole would be a better analogy. You can't just always fill the pot holes, because eventually the road will be ruined. At some point you will have to lay down new pavement. Meaning, at some point our system will need to be changed. Now, since our health care is profit based it is also ungodly expensive. If you lower the cost of health care and let everyone buy into it, be it private or government sponsored, then perhaps you wouldn't have this problem. Bottom line is, that it needs to change and while illegal immigrants are part of the problem they are definitely not the whole problem. Citizenship, is hard to get, costs you money and is ridiculous at times. They should put in several ways to do this. I thought of public education offering it to the student, but not allowing any family to anchor off of it. Corporate sponsorship with tax cut incentives for the companies that do so. Enlisting in any branch of the military for a 4 or 6 year contract should grant you citizenship. If you are willing to die for my country you can be a part of it. Perhaps some sort of civil servant of some kind for several years should also help you get citizenship. Then start to hold some of these countries responsible for their citizens taking advantage of ours. I am sure we could make some sort of policy with our bordering countries that would benefit everyone if we sat down and worked at it. With plans like that we are bettering our communities and our country, by creating more productive citizens. Instead, of thinking like this you want to go off and scream - ZOMG 20 MILLION ILLEGALS!!!!! WE ARE BEING INVADED!!!!!!! Perhaps we should stop and think why exactly all of this is happening? I for one would never want to create any more government nor give the government the right to hunt down and deport illegal immigrants, place some sort of national ID system to get rid of illegal immigrants nor build a 40 foot wall around our borders. I don't want to live in a minimum security prison. Once we give them the right to do that, who is to say they won't do it to us, the legal citizens.

Tlarkin, I'd be willing to bet there is over 20 million of them. They put alot of Americans out of work, more than you would think.Alot of them aren't the nicest of people.I have experience working around them.I know their not the only problem, but it would be a start to send them home.No offense but I don't agree with your last post. This country has been over run by too many people.

I would have to disagree. I work for an inner city school district of mostly black and hispanic kids. I would say that most of them are illegal or at least their parents are. They are not bad people, besides race or citizenship does not dictate if you are a nice person. I know plenty of citizens who are jerks. Also, what jobs are they taking away from us? They mainly run the service industries and all those jobs are at or below poverty line. In my professional experience (I've been in my field for about a decade) I have worked with 100% legal immigrants. Not sure where you are getting this data from. Research it and you will see that there are 12 to 20 million and that there is no way to accurately count them. 20 million is the scare tactic people are using to get their point across. just like that other thread with the fake email about the illegal getting a pell grant, more false propaganda. I am willing to bet you hear what you want to whether it be right or wrong. I read another poster in another thread from this forum claim there was 35 million illegals in this country. I wonder where he got that number from?

tl, the 12 million number is BULLCRAP! There are that many in the L.A. area ALONE! I put the number between 30 and 40 nationwide. Especially when they say that every quarter, they could fill up Invesco Mile High stadium with the number that come across the boarder illegally.

yeah, you're the one that came up with that 35 million, I wasn't going to call you out but I don't have to anymore. Secondly, some of them get their citizenships, and a good chunk of them are minors. You can't prove your numbers, you are just blowing it out of proportion. Plus, our government does nothing to them nor do they try to hold their country accountable. I've been to L.A. and there aren't 12 million people total in that city. Man, oh man, but whatever I am done trying to talk to people who just make up numbers

No dude, there are 12 million illegal immigrants on top of the 9 million people living in L.A. LMAO! That makes almost 20 million people total, no wonder their high way system sucks!

| The Mayor ![]() | That's what I figured. That's why folks like me, who have insurance, have to pay for everyone elses malodies. We had a yard sale before we moved. Almost every Mexican woman that showed up was pregnant. They couldn't speak any English and their translator was usually a kid.

I don't care that you're a Mexican American. I care where our government's funds are going. I care that the government has dropped the ball. I don't care about pieces of cloth.

No you don't. The government nor the insurance companies pay for any of that, it is a total loss. You aren't paying for anything really. I am not sure that you understand how privatized medicine works. If no one pays for it, then no one pays for it period. How are we tax paying citizens paying for this person's health care? There are government plans that use our tax dollars, but they barely scratch the surface of unpaid medical bills in our nation. They are just unpaid, which is why hospitals go into debt and some have to close down. They also pay for a lot of retired old people and military verterans. It is not like 100% of our tax dollars just go right into hospitals pockets for illegal immigrants.
