Where's TT and bowers to tell KR he's l"iving in fantasy land?"
Nice guns .
*edit*
Not that I'd say you're living in fantasy land. At "worst," you are a guy who likes something and has the money to get it (whether its sports cars or dirt bikes or a plane or guns). At best, the world really will turn to crap and the only people who will survive will be you and whats left of the military, heh.

If SHTF I'm rolling with KR and Steve. KR can't use all those guns anyway.
And yes, KR is living in a fantasy land. I wish to live in that fantasy land with him. He's got a lot of evil black. I'm just waiting for him to add more wood to his collection and we shall go frolicking through the woods.

The collecting of weapons and preparing for a fantasy land senerio of the USA comming apart at the seams are 2 entirely different things Mr. Mc Donald I have a been collecting and build guns for probably more years than you have been living and I live in the real world and live a life that deals with real life situations everyday and you have still not comunicated anything that would make me believe that you have any experience with any type of survival situation or confrontation where you would have to use deadly force to protect yourself from harm or possible death. You tell me about all the books and articles that you have read and all the experts you have read about, and it means nothing to me for I know for a fact that if you have never been in the position of have to do the above mention thing YOU have absolutely NO way of knowing how you will react. That is not assumption Mr. McDonald it is FACT. As far as who will survive in your little fantasy you have no way of knowing that fact.
Steve

Between JM and KR there is enough "insanity" for all of us!
"If I have enough guns and ammo I can just shoot my way out of it!"
Please, gentlemen, this is the stuff of Jr. High daydream fantasies.
The lack of walnut, or fine bluing is disturbing, when someone's gun collection resembles a G.I. Joe accessory kit, I have to wonder what their true intentions really are.

O.K. I'm behind cinder block wall with my 308 and McDonald is behind another cider block wall and were fireing at each other.
Were in a gun battle.
Which gun will do a number on the wall were behind ? My son has a video of a sniper rifle in 308 busting up a fire Hydrant all to piece's.
I agree the 22 lr will be a good survival rifle for food but not in a fire fight.

(although I wanna find the wood stock to convert it to a sporter) (ordered some Yellow Duracoat for the Intertec...all black is just boring!)
And with 100 rounds of .22LR to play with per magazine...whoever is on the other end is going to have a Bad Day. I use standard Police targets for bumpfire practice with my pistols...well over 90% of the rounds stay in Center Mass Body at 25 yds with the Calico M-110.
Oddly, the Tec-9 clone (AB-10) isn't nearly as accurate...but then, it's only got a 2" barrel. The 9mm Liberty, on the other hand, does as well as the .22 Calico pistol. They DO handle sweetly Calico makes some NICE pistols!!
But I'm one of those wierdo's who lives in a decommissioned military underground bunker...so my options are a little different than most folks...I gotta No Varmint Zone for over 150 yds Heck, ya gotta go thru a gate off the main road & drive 8 miles down a dirt road just to FIND the place...and by then I know yer coming
( I didn't choose it for the military factor, I chose it because hurricanes will kick yer arse down here...an underground facility made of concrete in a hill tends not to have any hurricane issues)
Zombies will NEVER make it in

As I've said a hundred times, if I found myself in that position, I'd have been running after the (your, in this example) first shot. I don't intent to sustain any gun fights. I don't intend to "draw down" on anyone, in ANY situation. If I am walking out into a McDonald's parking lot and a guy robs me at knife point, I am not going to draw my own knife and try to fight him. When I start carrying, if I am ever held at gun point (or even knife point at close range), the same thing will apply; I don't intend to have any sort of gun fight or mexican stand-off. Hell, as bower was saying, I don't know if I'd even have the nerves to sustain an actual gunfight, against relatively evenly-matched foes (someone else with an accurate weapon behind solid cover) and do anything more than spray and pray (as most do), so I am not going to sit here and even pretend I will be the next Rambo.
Even if I were defending a stationary position (like a house I am rightfully inhabiting), I wouldn't stand at a window and maintain a firefight with some some guy outside behind a tree. I would much rather run around the outside of the house, and around several other houses or even into the woods and then flank them (if it were only maybe a couple of threats).
Though, don't think I havent been thinking of picking up my own long-range rifle (prolly a .308, .30-06, .270win, or something like that) for just such occasions (and for the fun of it, and to start hunting).

It all boils down to the fact that the best weapon in a firefight will be the one you have with you at the time. Assessment and calculation of the situation will determine your response.

Not sure I'd trust the LR as a SHTF OR "Combat" weapon, MAYBE a .22 WMR as A SHTF, but that's a big maybe. My current SHTF weapons are a .45 ACP and a Win. M1200 12ga. The .45 goes with me about 98% of the places I go and when at home the 1200 is never far away. I think it's really a matter of personal preference. I'd recommend maybe a .22-250, or a .220 swift. Normally I'd suggest the .223 rem, but as ammo for that caliber is increasingly hard to find I'd say one of these two should suffice but only in a TRUE SHTF instance. I would strongly recommend something a bit more potent as a primary and keep any .22 caliber as a secondary.
