On the Second Amendment, Don’t Believe Obama!

Friday, June 06, 2008 The presidential primary season is finally over, and it is now time for gun owners to take a careful look at just where apparent nominee Barack Obama stands on issues related to the Second Amendment. During the primaries, Obama tried to hide behind vague statements of support for “sportsmen” or unfounded claims of general support for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
But his real record, based on votes taken, political associations, and long standing positions, shows that Barack Obama is a serious threat to Second Amendment liberties. Don’t listen to his campaign rhetoric! Look instead to what he has said and done during his entire political career.
FACT: Barack Obama voted to allow reckless lawsuits designed to bankrupt the firearms industry.
FACT: Barack Obama wants to re-impose the failed and discredited Clinton Gun Ban.
FACT: Barack Obama voted to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.
FACT: Barack Obama has endorsed a complete ban on handgun ownership.
FACT: Barack Obama supports local gun bans in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and other cities.
FACT: Barack Obama voted to uphold local gun bans and the criminal prosecution of people who use firearms in self-defense.
FACT: Barack Obama supports requiring law-abiding gun owners to register their firearms.
FACT: Barack Obama refused to sign a friend-of-the-court brief in support of individual Second Amendment rights in the Heller case.
FACT: Barack Obama wants to eliminate your Right to Carry.
FACT: Barack Obama was a member of the Board of Directors of the Joyce Foundation, the leading source of funds for anti-gun organizations and “research.”
FACT: Barack Obama supported a proposal to ban gun stores within 5 miles of a school or park, which would eliminate almost every gun store in America.
FACT: Barack Obama voted not to notify gun owners when the state of Illinois did records searches on them.
FACT: Barack Obama voted against a measure to lower the Firearms Owners Identification card age minimum from 21 to 18, a measure designed to assist young people in the military.
FACT: Barack Obama favors a ban on standard capacity magazines.
FACT: Barack Obama supports mandatory micro-stamping.
FACT: Barack Obama supports mandatory waiting periods.
FACT: Barack Obama supports repeal of the Tiahrt Amendment, which prohibits information on gun traces collected by the BATFE from being used in reckless lawsuits against firearm dealers and manufacturers.
FACT: Barack Obama supports “one-gun-a-month” sales restrictions.
FACT: Barack Obama supports a ban on inexpensive handguns.
FACT: Barack Obama supports a ban on the resale of police issued firearms, even if the money is going to police departments for replacement equipment.
FACT: Barack Obama supports mandatory firearm training requirements for all gun owners and a ban on gun ownership for persons under the age of 21.

It's been said time and again - check the contender's voting record. It's all there on public record. Anyone voting for a Presidential Contender based solely on his appearance and 'charm' is an idiot. Many of the nation's worst offenders have been handsome guys with loads of charm.

Knowing that we do, in fact... cling to guns and religion ... the leftists know this is a hot potato for their cause they'd rather not have to make a stand on. Information like this would effectively ruin Obama through *most* of the country.

I will support McCain. He is a better alternative as compared to Obama. There will always be people trying to take away oor rights concerning firearms. It is going to very critical that we stand together, and even possibly take our country back someday.

Amen to that. i can't get over the ignorance of some Americans. I actually had a guy argue with me that he really didn't believe Obamma would do anything about guns, he was just doing that to get elected and be the poster boy for the left. This was a 72 yr old white guy who also said he would vote for anybody who would stop the war. so i asked him if Obamma was just saying that to get elected also. he was stumped. people are so stupid with how they decipher information. they only believe what people tell them to believe and i just cannot understand how the older generation in this country is falling for this crap being fed to them. the young generation, I can. Anybody older than 35 should understand the tremendous danger of this super far left Obamma and his lack of judgement and lack of ability to look into even his own future and how decisions now will affect him, much less an entire country and the world! look who he hangs with is all it should take. if McCains buddy was David duke i think the news jackasses would be up in arms don't you? And he has no policy plans for anything. all his debates or arguement points were generated from hillary's original plans and then he would change it a little bit, and spew it as his. I am really at a loss for this election. Mccain going along with this "GREEN PLANET" movement of Global warming, always talking how he partnered with kennedy this and Kennedy that, he is the only true Bi-partisan republican....thats because he's a freakin wussy liberal too. we dont have a voice for us anymore and it is very demoralizing to think of our near future, I have 3 sons and one on the way and I really fear that my way of life is going down the crapper.

Great post live to shoot! All of us as gun owners are responsible for getting out the truth about our elected officials, we can leave it all up to the NRA. Your post reminded me of a verse in the Bible; "you shall know a tree by its fruit.."

I feel that the second ammendment get's trampeled on every day. If you closely read all of it, it states it gives us the right to establish a militia for us take back our government. The supreme court will rule on the Washington D.C. gun ban this summer, and I hope they rule in favor of what the second ammendent states.
