XD-M .40 S&W cal...

Anyone know much about this new model yet or is it too early? It looks good in Guns and Ammo magazine but don't they always look good in those? Any idea on cost relative to quality. I have heard $660 range but that seems steep to me.

I am picking up a .40 XD subcompact next week. I shot a rental in both the 9MM and .40 and loved both. Great feel, accurate and little reciol. I was very impressed. I was quoted $600 out the door including tax and background check. Comes with 2 magazines, holster, magazine holster, lock and a case. The dealer is even going to throw in a box of .40 Fedral hollow points as a gift.

Sounds good. The XD-M is not a subcompact pistol and the M stands for match grade. I have come up with three prices so far and have seen two of these the past couple of days. Prices quoted were $667., $659. and $549. at the gun show in Pasadena, Tx. today. I have also read on another gun forum that one was purchased for $599. So... I now have a spread from $549 to $667.

I am going to wait and see a bit before making that purchase. I do not think they will be selling like hot cakes any time soon and I have enough .40s at the moment anyway.

If anyone gets any additional info on this pistol, please post it.

Don't want to leave out my favorite place to not buy a gun. Gander Mountain has the M for $700.00 today and man are they a seller. lol I get a kick out of their sales folks. They only got one in and already it's a seller. I think I may have been the only one in the store that even looked at it. So now we have prices from $549 to $700 and I doubt any of these have sold yet in my area.

Cool

I have handled two of them now. The HC slide version and the all black. I like the hard chrome slide better in all brands (or stsinless steel) so it is no surprise that I liked this one as well. My only reason for not buying one yet has been the price range I am finding. I am not sure what they will actually sell for as yet. Will wait and see for a while as I have other .40 S&W cal pistols I can shoot. I must say tho, if I didn't have other .40s at home I probably would have grabbed the one at the gun show for $549.

After making the rounds this morning I don't see where any of the XD-Ms have sold yet in this area for the prices listed. I only know of one sold and that was before I started to look at them. Since then, nothing.

Has anyone actually shot an XDM? I'm going to be buying an XD 9MM to go with my .40 and would love to hear some experiences with the XDM before I decide if I want an XD or XDM.

Have you shot one or know anyone who has? I love my regular XD and am planning on getting another but in 9MM. I want to see from people who have them or have shot them how different they are.

I still don't know anyone that has purchased the XD-M. It only comes in .40 S&W so far. No word at all regarding a possible 9mm in the future.

For those trying to compare the XDs with the XD-Ms, that is difficult as the XD-M is a match pistol with a competition grade barrel. I don't see a comparasion in the guns or the price because I look at these as apples and oranges.

Anyway, will attend a gun show this weekend in Pasadena, Texas and if the XD-M duo-tone is available at the same price I saw a few weeks ago I will buy it. Then we can do some type of range report.

No XD-Ms at the gun show today. Have to wait a few more weeks and try again.

I held one at a gun store 2 weeks ago. Felt & looked good and all but still not left hand friendly.

I shoot right handed but did notice that they don't have a left handed shooter option. Have you tried contacting Springfield about that? If you get enough left handed shooters to request it you might have strength in numbers. I heard through the grapevine that The DEA is going to start using the XD .40 Subcompact as their weapon. Maybe that will make a left handed gun an option.

Are you talking about the XD Sub-compact or the XD-M? Two totally different guns there.

I am excited for this gun to get into the market

and we have hundreds of user posting and writing their experiences after
several hundreds of rounds of ammo.

I believe this gun has promise and I am anxious to learn how it works for a wide variety of shooters from casual plinkers to law enforcement.

Sisco, I think you're right. People are confusing the Springfield XD-M with the XD:

XD-M: SPRINGFIELD

It looks very nice. Holds 4 more rounds than the regular XD. It's only available in .40S&W, and some say that a 9mm version could hold 20 rounds...20 rounds.....wow.

I love how the XD-M looks, even compared to the regular XD. I hope to get my hands on one soon. If a 9mm version comes out, I'd be tempted to buy it.
