Smells like something to either take some heat off the Government or a planned distraction to keep something else from being noticed.

Blackwater is pretty shady to begin with. They forget they are a private company and they are not above the law. I've met several of the guys, and I'm not too impressed. They act like a bunch of testosterone-filled gun junkies who are here to make as much money as they can. I think it's just a matter of time before someone calls BS on these US mercinaries being involved in the "War on Terror". I sent a couple of my guys to the Blackwater Training "Compound" in Moyock....the one that was "raided". They do have a pretty good program, and it would be nice to see them incorporate more of that training into the military...but I honestly don't think they should be paid to fight our "war" for us. Hmmmm...... History shows that Rome had some mighty bad luck when they hired their defense out to Mercs.

| Blackwater paid the price for being in a . . .
high risk business when the media concentrated on the shootout at the intersection in Bagdad. So, it is good politics to have Blackwater take a slap on the wrist. Not much chance of anything coming from this as Blackwater is tied up in contracts for Iraq and therefore tied up into all sorts of legal and diplomatic protection. Look for the State Dept. and the Defense Dept. to come to Blackwater's aid if necessary as Blackwater needs a base of operations. For what its worth I totally agree Blackwater is just a high profile mercenary outfit that can take casualties without it adding to the official military death total in Iraq. However, this business deal is not new in the history of nations. |

I still don't get what they did wrong. They stored weapons for a local law enforcement agency. They must not have filled out the appropriate paperwork. Well it sucks to be a scapegoat.

Fighting and killing people for money is not the same as fighting for a cause.

i don't why the sherifs department couldn't store their own guns????you mean to tell me the cops can't or don't have a place in the building to store their guns. and why don't each cop carry his own gun on him? if something happens like an emergency what they gonna do send someone over to the blackwater place to get their guns so they could fight back?? and as for the post about fighting for money how much would you think the enlistment rate would drop if the military stopped paying the soldiers and said you must join and fight for free?? alot of the soldiers join for the schooling and some pay they don't all just joinup to fight. that would be very interseting if the army came up with a policy of no pay just food and shelter for a method of maying the soldiers.
