I would like to know if one or two holsters for use with a 3" sub-compact XD in 40 S&W out shine all others for use in a deep conceilment for inside the waist band placement.
I need all the feed back I can get based on (if I can get it) extensive first hand use as I will most likely have to order via the mail and buy sight unseen. I am of large build at 6'-2" and around 230lbs with a 36-38" waist line.
I am having a near impossible time finding any holsters locally to try out that are not of the lower end type, and not well suited to deep conceiled carry.

Have you had any luck yet? I own an XD subcompact .40 and am having the same problem.
Garry, I have bought a "Smart Carry" holster and it deos work well, but I am still looking for a good IWB holster. My biggest problem is NOBODY near me sells IWB for 3" SC/HC XD so I am forced to buy SUS and most run in the 65-80$++ range so I need info to make a informed purchase.
For deep concealment you will be hard put to find one any better for the smaller compact and sub compacts than the Smart Carry holster. I have carried a Taurus PT140 and an S&W M&P9c in a Smart Carry with great results for about a year. Hides great quite comfortable. All you need is a pair of paints or shorts that don't fit skin tight.
For an IWB i would recommend a Crossbreed holster. I have 2 of them, one for my Kimber 1911 5" and one for my Taurus PT140. Both hide well and are Very very comfortable over a 10 to 16 hour days carry. My Taurus 24/7 OSS also fits in the second holster and so does my Springfield XD 45. They are not cheapo holsters costing around $80-$85, but they are well worth it.
For me and my body shape, overweight of course, i find that a 3 to 3:30 carry position with a slight forward cant conceals very well and yet is quite handy to get at when needed.
