a competent gunsmith will be able to fix that burr in no time, and the ejector/interrupter (which ever it may be) only cost a little online to get a replacement if you need one. gl

here are the pics. I hope they load right.
pic#6 is where the shell sits when the bolt is being extracted and pic#7 is where I think the bullet should be until the bolt is all the way back. I could be wrong though. I am pretty sure it is two pieces?

cremley, I can't tell for sure, but I think that the ejector is in backwards. This is how it should look from the bottom
and with the ejector removed so you can see the proper orientation:

Yep !! Sorry I took so long to reply. Thanks toolman !! Correct orientation when front of receiver is to the left. Hope its fixed !!
If its still not holding you can try bendng the spring a tiny bit at a time. I also have a spare if you need it.

I checked and I do have it in the right way. I will try bending that spring a little if I can. Thanks

It bends easy so take it slow. Also, when you put the spring back in, make sure it goes down into the little dovetail by the screw hole.

well, I tried all of that and it didn't seem to help. I checked the mechanism on my m44 compared to the 91/30 and they work exactly the same. once the bolt is locked down into place, the spring is pushed out and the bullet rises to just under the bolt. on my m44, the bolt just clears the bullet and the case. on the 91/30, the bolt barrely rubs on the bullet and the case. I don't think there is anything I can do to make any adjustments. It seems like the part (interupter?) that the spring is pushing needs to be thicker like the one on my m44 to keep the bullet low enough before the bolt is pulled back.

Have you tried switching the pieces between your 91/30 and your M44 and see if it is the piece itself?

Or even just line them up side by side to compare. That's why I have spares. I took a Mosin apart, and after 2 hrs of trying to get it to malfunction, I have not been able to do so, unless I really flatten out the spring. The interrupter/ejector is really almost stationary. Being spring actuated, you think that would be where the problem lies ??

Hey, why didn't I think of that. Thanks for the advice, I will give it a try tomorrow when I get off work. sorry to be putting you guys through so much trouble taking the mosins apart and stuff. I did put them side by side and it looked like the interupter on the m44 is thicker than the one on the 91/30.

Thicker, the height is the same from what I could tell. I can measure it with calipers when I get home tonight.

Niko, I am a poor college student but if this thing doesn't work or I can't fix it, I will definitely get another one. thanks for the two cents, I might have to start looking again. I would like an m39 if I can find one.
