I got mine from AIM for $89.95 and paid $10 more for the bayonet, and I got 6 clips due thursday from old western scrounger. Now I just need to take out a loan to buy the ammo.

Come on guys, this is a fun gun at a Mosin Nagant price.
I see Steyr 95on sale at big 5 all the time for 79-89.00. Have looked for rounds I cant find them around. None at gun shows. I guess you can get rounds on line but price tag was over 1.00 round (i don't reload yet) Found charger clips at joes if I ever get one. them seem like a neat gun guess I sould just get one.

I do reload, but the stuff can be found at gunshows and online. The charger clips are a whole $2.50 at The Old Western Scrounger. I shot about 30-25 rounds today, and it was a literal blast. All the wooses crying about how bad Mosins kick.
Of course I shot about 80 rounds from 3 different Mosin Nagants, too.
If anyone has ordered a Steyr from SOG, let me know what you think of it. I've sent back 3 long guns to them in the last 6-8 months because they were not what they advertised them to be; advertised excellent condition vs. barely good IMHO, another advertised very good condition rifle that looked like it was put together from trash bin parts.
I was happy with my SOG m39 on looks, but they sent me one with a pretty worn barrel, even when I got the hand pick. The nagant revolver I got from them, however, was near perfect.
On another note, I agree with Gandog!
I love my Steyr... oh wait now its Steyr(s)
Kicks pretty well, doesn't it?
And I like the straight pull.
Here are my babies.

P.S. someone at aim told me that PRVI was tooling up to make the 8X56r like 4 months ago, so maybe that will be out soon!

I picked up a case of Steyr 1938 milsurp from a friend (?) at $7.50 for a box of 10 on original stripper clips. It's still a ridiculous price at .75 a round but there's nothing else to choose from unless you have the reload tools. I don't. Anyway, I figure with the original clips, it was as fair a price as I could get.

Oops, sorry for the error in nomenclature. 20 lashes with a wet bore snake for me! However, the operation and function of both is basically the same except the "charger" clip stays in the magazine until empty whereas the "stripper" clip is removed once the rounds are loaded in the magazine. Correct?
Nope, a charger clip goes all the way into the magazine. A stripper clip only touches the top. Charger clips are much quicker just because you don't have to yank them out, too.
