I shot a mag through it just now. I was doing a little research for after market parts (firing pin) and found some on e-gunparts (numrich) and I don't know if they are milled/tempered instead of cast like the original CZ factory firing pin.
I would love to call them, but I never get the chance because I get home at 1630 eastern unfortunately after I work M-F. And I figure they didn't work yesterday, and probably not today, but I will have to shoot them an email I guess about the question in question unless anyone can answer it right now.
The firing pins on their site are $22, for that much, I hope they aren't trying to pass $2 cheapo originals as good ones. So if anyone has experience shooting these firing pins, let me know how it went.
I did like how it shot. It felt good in the hand while firing. Its got a nice little kick to it. I am going to wait for tonight and shoot it a little more while its dark. I hear they bark some fire.
The other question I had was if all the 7.62x25 will shoot out of all 7.62x25 guns. Like mil-surp labeled 7.62x25 Tokarev. I would assume it will shoot out of the CZ52 since its the same caliber. I have heard the Czech ammo is more powerful than the other eastern bloc surp stuff, is that true? Just want to make sure before I go buying 1000 rds. Thanks for any input. The sooner the better, because that means the sooner I buy
(I suppose if I bought the wrong 1000 rds, I would have to buy another gun to fit those 1000 rds......................)

I let a shooting buddy take me to 'his' range - the "member's only" range on the other side of the county. He had never shot the CZ52 - I had brought mine, and now he wants one!
They do have a certain 'mystique' about them.

Anyways, I've been gaining lots of interest in those CZs, do you know if they're California legal?
I don't know if they are CA legal, I don't even know the mag capacity. I only put 8 in it, I tried to put 9 in the mag, but it didn't fit. I didn't try to force it either. But I overheard double stack mags were illegal in CA. I don't know CA law, but its a single stack, so I guess you could do 8+1 if you carry it cocked and locked. I've heard pros and cons to carry. So I'd guess and say yes, they are CA legal lol. They are legal in WA

I want to get one asap. I don't have a C&R and I don't have a reliable FFL here yet so I couldn't have it shipped, so I guess I need to find one at the Cow Palace or something. I do love the 7.62x25 nowadays though. Doubly so since I fired my friend's Tokarev :-D
The 52 is perfectly CA legal, it carries 8 rounds in the mag btw. The CZ vz. 82 is not in its original form because it carries >10 rounds. J&G sells one that is CA legal however, because it uses smaller magazines.
The Czechoslovakian rounds is supposedly faster, although I don't know if it is meant for the 52 or not. Some loads are intended for submachineguns, I believe, and shouldn't be used in pistols. I use the Romanian rounds and they seem to work fine.
HP is sold here although it's not surplus, and is therefore more expensive (but not corrosive).
I would NOT carry the CZ52 in "Cocked&Locked" configuration - the safey is actually a 'decocker' and is known to fail - thus - "BANG!" I do carry mine chambered, but not cocked.
The CZ52 is a great gun to shoot. As for the numrich firing pins i have no idea whether they are new manufacture or NOS. The rumors about some of the milsurp ammo being hotter than others are false, the main thing to watch out for is cracked necks, this is especially true of the Bulgarian. The Czech ammo is known for hard primers and a lot of click-bangs, and the Romanian seems to be some of the best but even some of that has issues. As for new production ammo you've got S&B, Fiocci, Prvi, Wolf, and Winchester White box which is just S&B re-labeled and the price jacked up. Wolf does make JHP but it can be hard to find.
The CZ52 safety is not just a de-cocker but a regular safety with a de-cocking position as well. However, do NOT trust the decocker, many have been known to cause a bang when used. As for using the CZ52 for carry, this is generally a bad idea, the 7.62x25 round is so small and so high velocity, it will generally go through any bad guy and exit with enough velocity to remain deadly to anyone behind him.
There is also a 9mm Luger barrel that comes available at odd times. My buddy and I lucked out and got ours 'under the wire' - if you see one, grab it quick, they sell out very fast! Feeding can be quirky, but it offers an alternative to the high-priced 9mm's. Tough bit is getting the new rollers and block, as the barrel comes stripped. The parts my buddy ordered thru Makarov.com never came - it's been some eight months.
There is also a company making 7.62X25 HP defensive ammo - but it is still a mighty small bullet!
The CZ52 will over penetrate on most any target. I have seen one penetrate 2 layers of an old level II vest with ease (surplus ball ammo). I tried mine at bowling pins. It went clean through the pin and barely knocked it over. Too much velocity with too small a bullet. The Wolf hollow point bullets have tested well in ballistic gel but still lots of penetration.
Want fireballs at the range? Try heavy loads of H-110 behind 90 grain XTP. The little CZ will roar like a 357 mag and the fireball is wonderful.
Recommend heavier recoil spring for this kind of activity.
Sorry to hear about trouble with Makarov.com I purchased the trigger improvement kit which included the machined firing pin, springs, etc. Got quick service and quality parts. Very satisfied. Of course, that was a year ago.
As for over penetration, just wait til the bad guys cross, then get two in one shot!
Seriously, I really enjoy shooting mine. I have done no upgrades and it shoots like a dream. I have put about 1000 rounds through it without so much as a stutter. I plan to replace the firing pin and rollers. I saw in a photo here some really nice wood red grips I'd like to buy.
I'm new to this forum and was hoping for some assistance. I have recently purchased a CZ 52. It was constructed in 1954 (the last production year for this model) I got it with the idea of adding a number of after market parts and basically customizing it. My goals were to get the following things.
Hard Chrome refinish. (check)! Bought it that way! :?)
Stainless steel barrel with a threaded end. (check)!
Ivory (simulated :?() grips with a thumbrest and an extended slide release cut out. (check)!
Hardened steel cam rollers. (check)!
Extended slide release. (check)!
Replacement alloy firing pin. (check)!
Wolff 18lb main recoil spring. (check)!
Modified magazine heel plates. (check) sort of... I'm planning on getting ones for a Tokarev and modifying them.

Magsafe Frangible 32
Timbs Accerators 50
What I am MISSING is a COMPENSATOR for this gun. They used to be available at Markarov.com but that was a couple of years ago. I've seen pictures of them. Google CZ 52 compenastor and look at Images. I've noticed a few people mentioning on some of the forums that they have them. This is the final piece that I need that has me stumped. Anybody out there know where I can find one? Anybody want to make a tidy bit of profit selling me theirs? :?D I'm really hoping to finish up this project and get moving on to my next one which is to do a similar set up on at Tokarev TT33.

The CZ 52 is a fun gun to own. They're powerful, adaptable, get a lot of attention at the range. I believe these will become more popular as more folks realize how powerful, strong, and practical they are. Parts and ammunition are easily available and readily obtained from a number of places. Take a good look at the ammo selection for this weapon from Reed's Ammo. They load both the 60 and 90gr Hornady XTP plus several others. They also are the creators of the .22 Reed Express; the 7.62x25mm necked down for .224" bullets.
