Home Vegetable Gardening Forum ?

I ran the idea by Chris about a month ago as I figure there are alot of us here that are into growing veggies.. (hard to argue about veggies.. LOL) Maybe we could have it in the "Survival" area..

Anyone else interested ?

Bill,
Just for you...and anyone else who views this thread:
Wildflowers Save Lives

My wife and I plant Sweet Williams too...for their brilliant colors and contrast of color.

...and, we're especially fond of lilies, star gazer and tiger ones.

LOL...
Weekly. My wife and I drink homemade carrot and celery juice, and we believe it helps to extend our quality of life experiences...especially the eye sight part of our lives...so we can see and enjoy the wild flowers, and so we can live and see to shoot.

...accurately.

What?!?!? No spray and pray? LOL! I hope someone can tell me how to grow veggies in rocks! It'd be a wondrous thing, to have some real tomatoes!

Build some above-ground garden boxes, fill with soil and plant your seeds/starts....

garden boxes - Google Image Search

http://www.squarefootgardening.com/h...ramidBoxes.htm

...I've used these and they really work well.

+1 MH...
Maybe as part of the survival forums?

...'cause, if we aren't familiar with and actively gardening we may not live to shoot for very long...or live to do much of anything else either...

********

Also, for apartment/condo dwellers...who don't have access to ground for a garden...there's a container gardening option. One year, my wife grew a plentiful garden in five gallon containers, set out on our patio in the sun.
http://www.gardenguides.com/how-to/t.../container.asp

...one year, I grew a diversified garden indoors...under broad-spectrum florescent lights; using a humidifier and misters:
http://homeharvest.com/lightingmain.htm

*********

My wife and I do this type of indoor gardening as well:
http://www.living-foods.com/articles/sprouting.html

We buy and store seeds for use when a time comes that access to them is limited, or being able to get out and work in a garden is restricted.

...and they're delicious and nutritious.

No one can argue with a fresh vegetable

My daughter and son-on-law have a place large enough for
a really big garden so we all contributed. Already have tomatoes
in and other good eats on the way. We live in the Texas Panhandle
but their plot has avoided any hail so we're doing fine with fertilizer
and bug spray.

Hooray for home gardens.

Vegetable & Flower Gardening

Hopefully we can gather enough interest in this and Chris will start a new forum for it..

We expanded our garden at home this summer to include six or seven different heirloom tomatoes, three variety's of eggplant, red cabbage, and about four different types of peppers. I am expecting to have alot more than I can use or give to friends so I want to find out about canning. Any of you folks do that ?

Oh, and the flower idea is Billy's

If Chris doesn't add one you can always create a gardening social group.

I vegetable ranch. I ain't a farmer. I raised onions, tomatoes, okra, bell peppers and squash this spring. I have a 10x10 plot. I guess I've gotten 30 lbs in squash. Tomatoes are still puttin' out, I give most of'm away. My Shire gives me all the fertilizer I need. I don't raise anything I can't eat.

i dont weed, spray none of that stuff.
i just water it sometimes.
i dont have time to have a garden that needs care and i make enough money to buy any kind of vegetables you could name.

if i didnt have to work i would have a great garden.
