Thank you! I had never considered it, actually. I just typed it in one day. It does make more since the way you spell it..... Watch your six out there friend. All the members of my old SWAT team have "1*" tatted somewhere into thier body. It's a pretty strong brotherhood. 'Course, I've gone to "Juvenile Crime" now. Funny how a wife and a new baby will change your outlook in a hurry! LOL! Hours are better now! 1*

For the longest time I thought it was ' On East Rix' but I couldn't figure out what a Rix was.....I thought it might have been a Texan term for street or something.

I read awhile back that '1*' is used by the Special Forces community to mean 'Once Again'. I have it up on my cubicle wall at work, but nobody here knows what it means anyway, just my way of making a subtle statement.

I'm not sure of the "complete" history. I know a SWAT team member/chief created the slogan to keep in front of the officers due to increasing training accidents. If he "borrowed it" from someone at least they are all keeping good company. The interpertaiton I got was. be careful "You only have one as$ to risk" hence~~~~ 1 as-te-risk or 1*

Yeah, "One as$ to risk." That's it. SWAT/Tac Ops community lingo. There's a line of cop clothing that uses the emblem. I believe we coppers originally borrowed it from the military Spec-Ops community.... Be safe out there guys! 1*

I've never heard that term around here for law enforcement. Many departments have their own lingo....especially about other departments, like we referred to DPS (Highway Patrol) as road jockies, RRR (Road Rage Referrees), etc. It would be interesting to compile a book about the variations nationwide with real life stories.

DPS in TX is known to municipal (blue) officers as road roaches or freeway flees....
