I'd go back at 49...but they'd better make me at least a Master Sgt!

The Brits did it in WW2, called them the home guard (or "Dad's Army"), kids below service age and men over service age for home defence duties. Luckily they were never needed to be used in anger!

i think putting them olfd farts on the border would be a great idea.them older guys would be great at border patroling. they say you can't shoot unless your life is in jeapardy so being your 60+ years old just a guy threating you would be enough to shoot him..

Smile Forwarded to Congressman

Well "Folks", I forwarded ''tommy's'' piece and your and my concerns to 'Congressman Robin Hayes' from NC.

I should hear something back in the next couple of days.

He may call on us.

I'd go again only under one condition that they not tie or hands behind our backs again, like in the Nam.

I'm 52 and I believe that wisdom may be worth as much as youth and brawn. I know a lot of Vets that are around my age and I asure you that we would scare the chit out of some of the younger warriors! LOL!

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYAH!!!!!!!! Let's go get 'em, coots! We can even supply our own shootin' irons! All they gotta do is dress us in them new fangled desert duds! I'm ready, and willing, and will serve with any of ya. That's what I like about G&G, we got fine folks, here.

Smile Need Bullets

Bullets "" SeeBee''' we need Bullets. If we are to do this RIGHT; WE NEED BULLETS. I can bring a few firearms, But I need BULLETS
Couple pairs of Jeans, Some good walk about shoes, 3-4 shirts, pack or two of drawers and 3-4 packs of socks. I can find me some kind of hat.

Cut down on the waste. Most of the other stuff will just be a waste; too much to keep up with, too heavy, and just too much trouble.
Set me out somewhere and kind of forget me until it's time to eat.

If we all decide what to bring along, most of us have enough ammo to outfit an infantry battalion. Why not send some of their old bullets back to 'em, minus the cases? And those new desert tuxedos are built for that kinda weather, so they oughta at least dress us for the job, even if they don't supply the arms and ammo!!!

Old Farts Brigade!~!!!!
I love it. I've been married two times, I got a whole truck full of P.O.'d saved up to take out on some rag-headed idiot or some river swimmer. Only thing, give us the job and get the H... out of the way and let us do it. Knowing this bunch, I wouldn't want to tackle the G&G Battalion, would you?

Not me, but I want to be in it! If I had the money, I'd pay THEM for the privilege of serving my country, one more time! Heck, I'd pay them more than they EVER paid me!!!

We're too old to run! Anyway, I wouldn't join to run, just git down, and be a pain in the butt, for the bad guys. Heck, I've lived a good life, if I could take a number of 'em along, I'd be doin' my duty. That'd be the thing, they couldn't get us oldies to move for nothin', and that'd scare 'em a good bit!

Back to the thread. I don't know that I'd want to do duty in the middle east but I'd sure as hell be a good drill instructor here to teach some of what I've learned. I've always been a pretty good shot and one hell of an ass hole so I think I'm qualified!!!

I have had a VERY GOOD life in this Great Country, done most of what I wanted to do in this life before I died. I wouldn't run because I can't for one reason and I just wouldn't for the other. To die for America's freedom would be so much better than to have cancer take me and lay in pain for months and months before I go to the Father.
Yep, I would love to bring my own weapons, wouldn't need any training on them. Just give me a couple of days on a 1000 yard range to get ready. All my shooting has been limited to 300 yards. I would furnish my own ammo but might need a young-en to carry the can to my post. Did you ever carry a thousand round can of 7mm mag ammo? Stretch your arm a bit. Just get me out to the top of a hill behind a rock and I would be just fine.

If them idjits in the Pentagon had any sense, they'd have themselves another brigade or two, Of folks who don't need nothing but a refresher, to get back into the scheme of things. I don't understand why they are so worried about us old guys dying, yet send green youngsters over without a second thought.
