Thats pretty good. I need to get mine conter-bored so I can shoot better. I called around, one gunsmith can do it for me for $65, which is nearly half the value of the gun, and the other one is on leave until the 18th. But he can do it for half the price. So I guess I will wait until the 18th.

Looks like this baby don't need no counterbore. Have you tried painting your crown with white out, shooting a few rounds, and looking at the soot pattern to see if it needs to be counterbored?

Well, I am not exactly sure how painting with whiteout will help help me determine if it needs to be counter bored? I have an idea of maybe not inconsistent patterns, but I am skeptical of that. The reason being is the bore is nearly non-existent near the muzzle. I just think it needs to be drilled out, like Mosins are. So I am going to take it to a gunsmith maybe early next week and see what he has to day. I would do it myself, but I just don't have any experience doing it. So hopefully the bore is savable and I can still shoot with some decent accuracy like my Mosin M-38 that is counter bored. It still shoots pretty darned good. Any further thoughts?

It's the soot patterns on the white out after you fire some rounds. If there is more soot on one side than the other, it indicates that the crown is not good and more gases are escaping from that side, which throws off your accuracy. It's just a quick indicator of crown damage.
