Since tungsten is non-toxic, I wonder if it's legal for waterfowl. Videos and Photos of Army Special Ops, Navy SEALs, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard in Action - Shock and Awe - Military.com

Definitely not one of those so called Less Than Lethal rounds there. lol Kind of cool it's from or for a tank platform.

In the old days, that was used for company-sized ambushes and was known as an Eagle. It was made with thickened diesel and anything at hand for fragmentation.

Everything old is new again. Cannons used to have grapeshot rounds (slugs in a bag) for use against infantry and ships (to rake the crew). Big in the late 1700s, early 1800s. Heck, during the Irish Rebellion of 1798 the British used it against Irish rebels. Grapeshot is even mentioned in Les Miserables. Then we got canister and case shot as refinements. So what is this for? Is this any more efficient than raking infantry with machine gun fire? - Coeloptera |

As far as what to use it against. There's always the obvious ground troops, it could also be used against wheeled vehicles such as cargo trucks and possibly lightly armored vehicles. From what I have witnessed of the M1 tank, it may also be effective against low flying rotary wing aircraft. Granted, that was during an ADA system test, but the M1 still score highest of the three.
