In other words... In-a-gadda-da-vida... "Iron Butterfly" In all my stuff going on, we bought the teenager a garage sale drum set. Now I'm trying to show him the great drummers of our time to give him incentive. I let him beat on the set all he wants. Tonight I showed him a band he's never heard of... Iron Butterfly with one of the best drum solos in history. He's loving it. Here's a sample: YouTube - Iron Butterfly - In a Gadda Da Vida 1999 live YouTube - Iron Butterfly : In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida : Part 1 YouTube - Iron Butterfly : In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida : Part 2 I just want him to see the greats and let him know that he too can be this great. Anyone else you can recommend for great drummers??? I know Phil Collins is pretty good to. Post links if you have them. Thanks! |

Into the Fire by Harry Nillson is basically a set of solos (dual lead, bass and drums) connected together by his vocals. It might surprise you who his studio musicians and other vocalists were on his albums.

| Nobody but nobody beats Neil Peart. His co-ordination and speed, ability to to stay fluid with what his other limbs are doing, is magificent.I've played drums, been a percussionist for many years, as well as piano, and Peart is simply unbelievable.

John Bonham From Led Zepplin before he died was one of the super drummers. I saw him in concert and he was fantastic.
