Remember one thing above all at ANY job you work at. Speak only when neccesary or to sell something. Don't talk about home life, hobbies, or anything personal at work. It's the ones they think are TOTALLY focused on the Company that shoot up like rockets...all you have to do is fool 'em into thinking that way about you...or fool yourself into thinking their way... Walmart is highly sales oriented, if you can figure out a better display and can explain that display to a manager in terms of Higher Sales, they will LOVE YOU! Especially if it WORKS! Just don't be a general suckup...be an efficient one.

so today was my first day, what register did my supervisor put me on? 23, which is an express lane, so I just had a guy show me the register and learned how to do the basic functions, then bagged til lunch(bagging is hard, I rung up one person alone about an hour and a half in, and it was horrible) and had another supervisor give me a new register where i could figure it out without people complaining about a slow express lane cashier shrek-that's probably good advice for shooting up the ladder, but if I do that I get less friendly, which I've already had managers mention that I need to be more friendly when they did my evaluation, so it'd be a double edged sword Last edited by cubbieman; 07-19-2008 at 11:38 PM. |

congrats on the promotion. ive been working at a parts store 2 years and i still do the same things, everything, but i do make more now. im sure the cash registers cant be 2 hard at wall mart, at my store there is no scanning, you have 2 know a 3 letter line code and a part # for everything. good luck with your new job im sure you will get the hang of it quickly.
